Guest Upgrades expire sooner?

Did I miss something? I've had four new guest upgrades deposited, but they all expire 12/31/18. I'm fairly certain these have expired one year later in the past.

They've always been valid for one year, nothing's changed.

Not in my account. For example, last year I made sure to burn my 12/31/17 upgrades prior to my 12/31/18 ones.

There have been glitches in the past where extra year given or even extra codes deposited or possibly new expiration date when cancelling and requesting a reissue. Certs earned for flights in 2017 expire 12/31/18. If you requal this year for next year then 2019 exp are issues, anything else is a gift from the MP gods.

it depends when they were deposited/earned. if you have already requalified for 2019 MVPG by flying >40K AS or >50K partners/segments since 1/1/18, then you should have 4 upgrades with 2019 expiration dates. if you are looking at GGUs that were earned in conjunction with 2018 status (travel completed between 1/1/17-12/31/17), then the expiration date should be 2018.

Thanks. Must have been because of my late re-qualification last year compared to prior years.

I'm sure if you called and asked they might be willing to extend it a year if you ask nicely

Not always. I recall one year where the guest upgrades showed a validity period of two years when they were deposited, and then expiration was "corrected" to only one year a bit later.
