That makes sense - it must be a length of flight difference rather than an airplane difference. I'm flying PDX-BUR usually. It was a mainline flight on Sunday and likewise catered 50/50.

It is distance-based. There are 6 categories. 0-299, 300-674, 675-1099, 1100-1499, 1450-1999, and 2000+ miles. The first three are each 50/50 catered, the last three are 70/30, and the last two allow pre-selecting meals

8 Seat 70% = 5.6 & 30% = 2.4 plates
12 Seats 70% = 8.4 & 30% = 3.6 plates
16 Seats 70% = 11.2 & 30% = 4.8 plates
I think you mean a 75/25 ratio. 6/2, 9/3 & 12/4.

8/12/18; SEA - LAX, 6:55AM departure.
PDB of coffee was offered and the raspberry peach smoothie shot was given as first "course".
Menus provided w/ choice of bialy breakfast sandwich (w/ fried egg, swiss cheese, turkey pastrami, balsamic caramelized onion jam, or protein plate w/ cheese, hard boiled egg, flatbread, grapes, oranges, strawberries, yogurt, and farro pudding. The back of the menus also now list beverage options (well, coffee, teas, and wines).

“Policy” of no coffee/OJ for early morning PDB, and an FA who disappeared behind the curtain after service. Lackluster at best.

Do you realize that with 8, 12, or 16 seats your numbers end up with parial plates! I will take the mixed plate please.
8 Seat 70% = 5.6 & 30% = 2.4 plates
12 Seats 70% = 8.4 & 30% = 3.6 plates
16 Seats 70% = 11.2 & 30% = 4.8 plates

AS1670, 550a departure SEA-DEN same choices as above. I was pleasantly surprised by the sandwich and would definitely pick it again. No menus.

Okay! So Approximately 70/30?
11/5 is 68.75/31.35
8/4 is 66.66/33.33
6/2 is 75/25, you think you agree here. Definitely not 70/30
But hey, what do I know? Oh yeah! I know, I wanted the partial meals.
The last 2000+ mile flight I was on prior to preorder was catered 12/4. I don't recall when advised by the the FA the ratio being anything other than 75/25. I wanted the steel cut oates but they were all spoken for by 2C, We were in 2DF.
I was jesting, note the wink! If 70/30 is an approximate ratio for catering a cabin an explanation and where the knowledge was obtained would be more beneficial than a condescending Nope!
Cheers

Even if you can't pre-order, it is the fruit/cheese plate always an option if there is meal service scheduled? I have a red-eye coming up that will likely have the "usual" humus plate as the "snack" but I'd prefer the fruit and cheese if it's an option now that I don't have to pay for.

On my OGG-PDX red-eye flight last week, 10:00 pm departure, the snack was a fruit and cheese plate.

Based upon the past few posts, Alaska's meal service appears to have definitely taken a turn for the worse, especially given the preponderance of Protein Plates which by my experience at least seem better suited to flights of 750 miles or less. I've got a bunch of Alaska flights coming up this fall. Looks like I'll continue to self cater with Waji's Chicken and Veggie bowl.
As to flight attendants who are "supposed" to serve AM PDBs but neglect to do so (much less properly serve any other aspect of Alaska's meal service), does Alaska management even make an effort to enforce its standards? I mean, now that the days of Ghost Riders have apparently been relegated to the dustbins of history, how does Alaska address allegations of flight attendants that fail to uphold its First Class standards? As one who's logged 1.8 million miles aboard Alaska over the past 40 years, I think most Alaska FAs do a fine job but I've also seen more than a few who are better suited to hosting a trailer park BBQ. How they ever got hired is a mystery given how good most of Alaska's other employees are.
