Best customer care experience in 2017: We were traveling PDX-SEA-MSY, companion certificate, upgraded to First with 2 GGU's, Arrived for our E175 flight to SEA. Plane was downgraded to Q400 and we lost our first class seats. From SEA-MSY we sat up front. Alaska put 2 new GGU's into my account despite flying first on the longer segment. Thanks Alaska.
Best use of GGU's in 2017: ANC-LAX-SJO 1 GGU each, SJO-LAX-SEA-PVR 1 GGU each on a companion certificate as MVPG.
First EQM for 2018 on January 1st.
Starting 2018 with 16 GGU's between us.
Good luck to everyone in the New Year.

after 3 fun years of flying almost exclusively in F on AS via GGUs and comp-grades, my status game finally ran its complete course on December 31 with the DL and AA divorces sealing the deal. i have 2x GGUs left in my account with 2018 exp dates and will probably use them to visit Canada this summer, though might save them and try to jam through a FLL upgrade for next Xmas...if I don't use my DL RUCs for that trip...

Route: PDX-ABQ
Flight Number: 2794
Status: MVP
Fare Class: T
No companion
Time cleared: 48h out
Not surprised it cleared on this route. Flight overall is pretty empty. But I am surprised more people didn't pay the $50 to upgrade! Seems like a steal for a 3 hour flight.

Original booking on 10/21/17
01/03/18 - AS 728 SEA CHS AS 75k No U space outbound, selected PE seats for 2 of us Fare class V
01/17/18 - AS 787 CHS SEA AS 75k - instant upgrade for 2 of us, he was MVP at the time
12/27/17 noticed on web site U space open, called and upfared us to U $129.00 each
01/02/18 AS 728 cancelled, rebooked for 01/5/17, back in V fare, no PE seats open, no refund of the upfare
01/04/18 AS 728 cancelled, next flight is on 01/07/18 but only 2 seats open in FC, have to pay FC last minute fare for 2
0/05/18 Found FAA web site says CHS will not be open until 01/08/18 at 6:59PM* (my meeting in Hilton Head starts 01/07/18) so, I called and cancelled the 01/07/18 flight
01/05/18 booked new flights AS 32 SEA PHL on 01/06/18 and AA PHS SAV on 01/07/18 - had to pay walk up fare for the AA flight, but it gets me to the meeting on time.
we are both waitlisted for FC but seated in PE. I am 1 of 3 on list this evening, web site shows 1 unselected seats but none for sale, he does not show up at all (I just renominated him for MVP)
Kept my return flight with our FC seats throughout this entire fiasco.
* CHS has NO snow removal equipment at all, they are depending on snow melting away. Hard to do when it gets above freezing only a few hours a day. The CHS web site has a clip of a helicopter flying over the airport showing it totally covered in snow still

SAN-SJC
R Fare, Booked Black Friday
T-72
There were 2 seats taken in FC, with no one on waitlist
SDC'ed to AS 3399
1 for 3 for 0
Doesn't matter much on the E175 for a hour in the air. Much preferred to sleep in.

Route: PDX-ABQ
Flight Number: 2794
Status: MVP Gold
Fare Class: R
Cleared: 72 hours out
Have really enjoyed the E175 on this route. I've been split on direct flights from SEA and connecting in PDX. Worked out great until last month when every flight PDX-SEA was cancelled. Luckily the PDX lounge staff was able to switch me to a BLI flight which actually worked out better than my original itinerary.
