Wow, thank you. Didn't know that could happen. I'll definitely pay attention next time I'm in the same situation. Thought the rule was that MVP has to book individually to be eligible.

Indeed, I know that only MVPG+ can upgrade a companion so I was surprised too. She was quite high on the upgrade list as well. I did read one post where an MVP and non-elite companion were actually upgraded. I would much rather see that than an empty seat in F. I booked their itinerary so I was watching it closely.

Contrast that with my KOA-SAN flight on Saturday. Grand total of two on the waitlist, both upgraded to F before check-in. 2 Seats unassigned until T-3 with both F & U available. Non-rev daughter of FA cleared from standby into F. Last seat as paid upgrade somewhere between T-75 minutes and boarding.

What time of day was the flight? I had a similar experience a month ago on OGG-PDX. It was a red-eye so not shocked. But I flew up in F with the seat next to me empty the whole way... Was surprised no one on the plane had a reason to be brought up to the front!

I flew SFO-PDX and it left with well over half of F empty. And many of the F were non rev. 6am flight; I think it must be mostly a positioning flight, because there is no way they are making money if that was a regular load. Anchorage crew. Really friendly.

They boarded early. I got to the gate a little late (2 min before scheduled boarding) so they were already boarding group C when I got there; I cut the line and boarded in the F/elite lane. As I scanned my BP I mentioned to the GA "early boarding; I like that!" (no sarcasm... I really do like that). She said, "yeah, I wanted to get you all on board before you fell asleep at my gate". Overall, friendly staff everywhere.

It was the 11:20 AM flight to SAN. The Sunday prior I flew SJC-KOA, 8:12 am flight. F was full but only 61 behind the curtain, 1 in all of row 6.

Both would have been easy upgrades as MVPG75K x2 but I was happy to use up the last of our GGUs. Always prefer a confirmed F at booking.

T Fare
Upgraded at T-28, so I did not show up on the list at check-in. 2/7 on list upgrades later.
Purchased in September

Last AS flight of the year, I'll hit 75K somewhere over Nebraska.

Has anyone else had it happen where an early upgrade has removed you from the list entirely? I'd not seen that until this week.

12/13/18 SEA-ICT AS3424 MVPG T Class Upgrade for both of us cleared at T-30 hours Purchased in June
12/16/18 ICT-SEA AS3425 MVPG T Class Upgrade for both of us cleared at T-8 hours Purchased in June

Love this route and the E75s when it comes to getting upgraded.

And in response to bbison, our T-30 upgrade meant we didn't show up on the list. We were on the list until the T-8 upgrade and then disappeared from it, too.

Thanks...I don't recall ever coming off a list before this week regardless of time of upgrade.

I was checking the app on my flights and this itinerary had a schedule change requiring a call in to reservations. Turned out one flight had changed 10 minutes. While on the call, I realized I booked the wrong flight (wanted afternoon but booked early morning flight which we flew often in 2018). So I requested a change to the afternoon and the agent changed it, checked for upgrades and upgraded us.
