N630VA is finally back in the sky, but it no longer seems to be going to SFO according to FR24...

I imagine whatever plans AS had just got altered after the MAX grounding.

Maybe, but then again maybe not. The community and business ties between AS are very strong: https://www.seattletimes.com/busines...ifficult-time/

I'd bet that Alaska was still figuring it out prior to the Ethiopian disaster. There are some areas where keeping deadlines and communicating with the customer base (guest base?) have significant value, but I think properly negotiating the best prices/terms they can get for new planes will be taking precedence over anything else in this particular matter, regardless of publicly-predicted timelines. Alaska has more leverage than they usually do right now, because they are negotiating as a carrier with multiple options, without having had to break trust with Boeing or build a whole Airbus operation themselves to get there.

Having said that, although I doubt any plans were instantly altered by the MAX mess, I do think it'll affect whatever process was already happening. (I hear that 49 MAX delivery slots are about to become available, if someone were to happen to want to replace a subfleet of, say, 50-to-70-ish frames.)

I would think that the MAX grounding would affect any public announcement by AS, unless it was ditching MAX and going with Airbus (even then Boeing would want to delay that).

At the minimum, until the FAA lifts the grounding, AS can't rely on having those frames in service on their previous timeline. Likewise, I find it unlikely that any carrier will be announcing additional MAX orders until the situation is resolved. Behind the scenes, sure.

I completely agree, no chance well see any fleet announcements until the MAXs are back in the air re-building public confidence.

I was just noting that I think keeping the public informed about those behind-the-scenes, 737-vs-A320 decisions is super low priority compared to getting them right.

Also, this was a half-joke. If I were to make a bet, it would be that Boeing can get GA to keep their order on the books. They are very incentivized to make it work.

Sorry it distracted from what I was actually trying to say about ASs Airbus fleet decision process.

It appears that N630VA is entering revenue service today on the BWI turn. Per the seatmap; it is reconfigured as expected....BUT still in VX paint it seems. I feel sorry for the ex-VX flyers getting a rude surprise when they walk on board to see it NOT in VX interiors... :-) LOL

Any confirmation on N624VA? Is it maintenance or cabin mods (or both)?

Unless you're one of the lucky folks that only got the upgrade because of the additional seats in the F cabin.

Too funny - one round trip to BWI and back from SFO with the new interior and old paint job and 630VA is off to VCV tomorrow for a fresh coat of paint.

That's awesome. I wonder if those two flights will be the only opportunities the public will ever have to fly on a jet with a VX exterior and AS interior. Kinda a Aviation Brand Geek unique opportunity for whoever got it.
