Yeah, the profitability of lieflats outside of NYC/BOS-LAX/SFO is... questionable. Don't get me wrong, I loved being able to try Mint on a SEA-BOS redeye last summer, but I don't know much money B6 is really going to make on routes like that if they keep selling it for $399.
On the issue of keeping the VX recliners: we've hashed this out plenty of times already. It was an outstanding product when it debuted, but B6 and the Big Three leapfrogged it. It was inferior to the competition on premium routes but way more than what was necessary for SFO-SEA, and the fact that it took up so much space meant you couldn't sell a whole lot of it (or as much Y) on those shorter routes.

Speaking as a fan of AS, I still find it a real shame that they took out the PTVs. I loved the VX Y seats and RED system and find the slimline Recaro Y seats uncomfortable on a transcon. I get that AS wanted to expand F seats/replace the old white recliners and add premium class, but all of that could have been accomplished while retaining the existing Y seats.

I never said they should have lie-flat seats. I am fine with the 41" pitch in F and a chance at an upgrade. What I don't like is that AS is offering a transcon Y product that is not competitive against B6, DL, or frankly even some UA aircraft. Maybe I’ll have to reserve judgement until I fly the reconfigured planes, but I have not had good experiences quality-wise using the streaming IFE on UA and AS.

Oh, Please ... there is more than JFK-SEA that AS competes in, the major is NYC-LAX/SFO (and some BOS-LAX/SFO) and all the competition offers lie-flat seats and seat-back entertainment. I also am not saying AS should offer lie-flat seats, but earlier photos did show leg rests (not just foot rests). As a corporate travel agent who's main client business is JFK-SFO/LAX, my clients jumped ship form VX the moment AS purchased them and all fly AA/B6/DL/UA. I LOVE AS, but they will not get my $$ when they compete against B6 to SEA-BOS/JFK (and don't get me started on how much MORE Alaska First Class is over jetBlue Mint on dates I'm traveling). I prefer comfort over miles (and I PAY for First/Business Class, I don't wait for upgrades).

A shame, since the seats are this plane are only 7 months old and the A321NEO Y seat is my favorite out of the various versions AS currently has (since it has both a PTV and conveniently located power outlet, whereas the power outlets on the 319/320 are under the seat). One would think they would prioritize older aircraft first.

N526VA was planned to be in Victorville today, but was cancelled, assuming for paint since that’s where the planes have been going for paint. Sure would love to contribute to the wiki directly, but cannot. I’ll try my best to contribute through here for the time being. Also, are there any firm delivery dates for N929VA and N930VA? And will the A320 family jets get AS/AK registrations at some point?

From the Q4 earnings call earlier today:
> Across the fleet, our guest experiences increasingly align and will reach full alignment early next year when we finish renovating the Airbus fleet.

I’m going to take a guess that the 737 MAX 9s will feature the same cabins as the reconfigured A320 family and 737-700. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong here, but Alaska has not made any official statement on cabin reconfigurations for the rest of their Boeing fleet with the exception of the 737-700 jets. So more than likely not. I’d imagine they will be doing overhauls on the rest of their Boeing jets during a future date, but nothing is confirmed as of right now.
