The repaint of the US Airways fleet had a couple awkward things about it. One was that US had some planes painted in full Star Alliance livery and needed to get those repainted ASAP since they joined OW well before the SOC came through. Another was that AA was already in the process of introducing a new livery, and probably they wanted to minimize the amount of time they'd spend with three different liveries (old AA, new AA, and US) deployed across the fleet.

So putting on new AA livery with the "operated by" sticker until SOC came through made sense.

What was weird was being in the widebodies, which also got repainted quickly; the exterior was AA livery, but the interior was still US, just with the logos all carefully removed. I did an LHR run on one of the repainted A330s, and it was kind of creepy to be up in the J cabin where normally you can't escape a bunch of small airline logos.

Who knows, I live near the airport and IIRC it went to http://www.atsmro.com/ and was there about 24 hours. I remember seeing the takeoff. It was still VX livery when it departed.

Current VX fleet is not slated to get repainted until a year from now -- Fall 2018.

The promo sketch of the Giants livery A321 was notably lacking in any airline branding at all, including a white tail. I see three explanations, which doesn’t help at all:
  1. They haven’t decide yet whether it will have a VX tail.
  2. It will be a VX tail, but it’s awkward to have VX branding in promo materials about AS being the Giants’ official airline.
  3. It will be an AS tail and they don’t want to spill the beans about an AS-branded VX plane yet.

Seems like they are rotating one plane at time:

I wonder if it’s some kind of inspection coming due on landing gear, brakes or evacuation systems.

Info discovery ..... N924VA might be the chosen one to receive this promo livery. N923VA is already painted in LVS livery and likely delivered in the next 10 days.
