Condor charges for checked baggage but AS is saying everyone gets free bags on Condor....wonder who is correct on this....

One bag was included with all the fares I saw when I contemplated flying them (with LH connection) home from Kyiv last year.

This is terrific news for those of us living in Alaska. There are great EQMs available on flights that are direct from ANC to Europe -without the need to travel to the Lower 48 or make a stop in Iceland.

Ooh, very nice. non-stop YVR-FRA ...

I'm pleased with this.

Miles on ANC-FRA and FAI-FRA? I'm stoked.

Plus there are *double* EQMs for flying Business Class.

And not having to fly to Seattle to get to Europe? Priceless ...

More good news for those of us in SAN

A bit messy with regard to adding the AS Mileage Plan #s to a flight. The AS site says visit Condor.com No help there. It also mentioned calling the 866.960.7915 but they aren't able to add to the booking either.

They said to give the number to the boarding agents and they will take it from there.

It'll be great getting big gobs of miles for Condor flights.

I can't wait to find out what the award redemption options are. Non-stop to Europe from Seattle takes a pretty hard hit as the Delta relationship ends. Both Icelandair and British Airways tack on surcharges, and BA's remains awful.

This had me scratching me head than I looked at their complete route network  Condor (DE....a new one for many of us to learn) has a great N. America network and will add a lot of AS's mileage redemption possibilities.

Assuming that the redemption options outside of FRA aren't complete garbage. Looking at their network, I would wonder if Condor is going to want to let an AS award pax redeem SEA-FRA-JTR/PMI in the middle of peak tourist season, even for 45k in Y (let alone 55k for J). Seems about as likely as AS allowing unlimited Christmas saver SEA-HNL redemptions.

Oh, interesting: access to PMI? Via LH. Bet you're not getting that on an award. Or with miles. Wonder how many other places are like that.

Oh, even more interesting.... SEA to PEK via FRA with CA doing the FRA-PEK segment. Bet you're not getting AS miles or awards for THAT...

It looks like a TON of DE's destinations in Europe are served by *A carriers on the last leg: A3, LH, SK. Um. Looks like DE does a ton of interline. I have a hard time believing you're going to get an AS award where LH, SK or A3 is the last carrier...

This is good. Additional options to earn and use miles is a benefit. Anyone flown them?

keitherson Mar 20, 2017 3:07 pm

I prefer them over Lufthansa if flying in Economy, honestly. They are more German than the German flag carrier. I was getting tired of LH serving chicken curries nonstop on every flight.
