2/7/18 - 6:55 am - SEA N Lounge - No sign out, but was turned away as single traveler. Lounge looked to be around 50-60% full. Still doing the "No sign out unless all lounges are full" thing. Not really interested in heading to C only to come back in less than half an hour.

Interesting side note...
Called Priority Pass to follow up on requested replacement card.
Phone rep was very surprised to hear that many are being turned away at Priority Pass Lounges , specifically Alaska Airlines Lounges.
She said they had not heard that this was happening. (I was very surprised)
Her statement...."lots of members pay $350 a year for the Select Priority Pass and they should be upset if they are not able to make use of it". I did tell her that many are upset with current situation and wondering if PP is planning on addressing this issue.
She did say she would pass it on to higher ups. (worth a shot. , not holding my breath)

I don't see any incentive for Alaska to drop PP. It serves their purpose perfectly as a standby source of fill-in revenue. The fact that PP members get ticked off at the inconsistency is more of a problem for PP.
At The Club lounge in DFW, during certain times it is assigned to "the closet" lounge and develops a waitlist sometimes 20 people long. Given it is in the D terminal, it is not fun to trek over there and find out you are not getting in so that is another source of dissatisfaction.

You just never know when you may/may not be able to access, which makes the whole experience so frustrating (especially at SEA).

I was at SEA on 2/10. Sign out at C club about 1:30pm, but almost no one inside. I asked about this - "Oh, I'll go down and take in the sign." So - is AS losing revenue it could have by not pulling sign when not in effect?

The short answer is YES, they have to be losing revenue, but for some reason, they don't seem to be missing the revenue since there are multiple reports of the sign being out with half empty lounges. If you're a business like Caper's Market in PDX, this has got to be a total windfall since a lot of that lost revenue is going to places like that. For PP (and AMEX Plat) members, there are other lounge options in SEA which was supposedly turning away PP members by the droves "until the new lounge opens in C which will alleviate overcrowding" and now we all know that never happened and the no PP signs are out just as often if not more. LAX is a bit tougher since the nearest alternate lounge is way over in the TB terminal so it would be nice if PP could start something like PDX has with food/beverage credits at various vendors.

Agent puts sign out, less work to do, esp.with card scan, sign, enter in computer vs. lounge member self service on pad. Conflict of interest for business?
