PDX

12/5 - Did not check the lounge as I was flying out with UA. But man the capers thing is a better deal anyway. Got a great breakfast bagel, coffee and coffee beans. They let me use two PP cards so I grabbed some extra snacks.

12/8 - Coming home, got some more goodies from cappers, but only got to use 1 card. Sounds like PP is asking them to be more strict which seams fair. The cashier said "you wouldn't use two cards when you as one person enter a lounge would you?"

As a side note, I was talking about the longevity of the non-lounge options with my dad, as myself and my parents are loving the capers option. And I realized PP really won't see costs increase that much if at all, since every entry to Alaska was costing them 28 bucks anyway. We as the consumers are just getting a better value now, IMHO. Excluding the times where I need a quiet workspace.

I agree...the Capers thing is amazing....my wife and I both have PP and since PDX is our home airport, we visit Capers before and after every trip. Keep in mind that you can still use the AS Lounge if they don't have the "No PP" sign out in which case the Capers benefit is costing PP an extra $28.

Do either of you have a source that the PP chargeback is $28? I have read that the payment to restaurants may be limited to as low as $24. I've also never seen confirmation that AS gets $28.

No sources...just going by what I read on FT I wouldn't be surprised if the payment was lower than $28.

its not. PP has to maintain the "value", so the restaurants have to set a certain level. PP pays via check/bank transfer, so the $28, less merchant fees of 5%, isn't a lot - but I'd wager to say its in the low $20s; which is the same as most airline clubs (which, should, be a 'wash' both ways).

12/2, PDX, 6:30pm - No sign out, lounge a little less than half full.
12/4, LAX, 9:30pm - No sign out, lounge about 2/3rds full.

I still haven't gone over to the Capers location in C, as I tend to grab some items at D which has a bigger to go selection, and then go sit in the comfy chairs in the concourse connector.

LAX 12/14 8:20pm - Rude man working the desk refuses PP entry. There are empty seats in the lounge.

Some empty seats doesn't guarantee you access as a PP member. An AL membership, or paid AS First Class ticket would however. @:-)

This is false. The Asiana lounges in Seoul are going Asiana passengers only for Priority Pass starting next year. Why Alaska doesn't do this during high traffic times puzzles me.

I said it before, but based on numerous reports of half-empty Alaska Lounges with the "No PP" sign out, capacity issues is unlikely to be the only reason why they aren't accepting PP members. I think the PP relationship with Alaska in general is likely to go away completely in the not too distant future and PP likely sees the writing on the wall as evidenced by the Caper's Market benefit at PDX (which is a great alternative to the AL I might add).

Sign up no PP PDX Dec 18 morning

Quick search revealed the Capers benefit. Wow, so happy with that! Had a great breakfast with much better food... Gave up the quiet workspace but it's a good alternative if AL is going to keep shutting us out. Without the Capers option I would have said the PP was really pretty useless around here... Entry to AL is only 50% in my experience.

Now they just need to do a restaurant benefit in SLC and other airports where they have no lounge at all.

Oh, man, I would love to have an option in SLC. They just added a restaurant in DEN (in C), which previously had no options, so hopefully this is the start of a trend.
