I manage the accounts for my family and 3 of us had VX and AS accounts before the acquisition. I was VX gold and was upgraded to AS MVPGold, no 10K bonus for me. Girlfriend and daughter did not have VX status and were both given 10K bonus due to having an auto linked VX and AS accounts. It looks like the 10K is for normal red elevate account holders (from my small sample). Very happy with the outcome.

Uh, so on a whim I decided to try logging into an Elevate account, and lo and behold I actually have one. I think it's from back when Hilton points were useful when applied to Virgin accounts. It has no points in it, and last activity was 722 expiring points on 09/04/12.
Never received an invite to link accounts, and as mentioned up thread, never received a 10k bonus on my Alaska account.

I have both AS and VX accounts. Never linked them, never got any email about linking them.
I fly AS regularly (average 2X/month). I have never set foot on any VX aircraft.
I have a modest stash of AS miles. Zero VX miles.
I am lowly plain-vanilla MPV on AS (3rd year running). Bupkiss for status on VX.
I live in Seattle.
Out of the blue, 10,000 AS miles showed up in my AS account today.
I'm not complaining about anything (well, American Airlines works harder to screw their customers than any other airline, period - OK, there's my complaint).
This 10K goodie seems pretty random. Thanks, guys!

So is consensus that linked accounts with VX Red (but not Silver or Gold) got the 10k miles? Anyone have any contradicting data points?
Silver and Gold got status matched to AS, so could this possibly be a way to give even Red members something? I'm not saying that this was either a good or bad idea, but it could explain the logic.

I am in a similar situation as my SO (Alaska MVP, VX account exists but unlinked with no status). I didn't get 10K bonus.
So .... there really is no pattern.

Another data point:
Live in Seattle.
AS 75K (from flying, not status match)
VX Red (never flown VX, but do have a lot of miles with them through transfers and promos)
Never received the "link" email. But was told by Twitter team my accounts were automatically matched (maybe they weren't?)
Did NOT receive 10k miles.
However, I did (recently) get 4 more GGU and 4 more Alaska Lounge passes added to my account in addition to the ones earned as 75K.
Both the extra GGU and Alaska Lounge Passes begin in "AY96"

Still waiting to see if anyone without a VX account gets the miles....now that would mean it is more random, like the rollover miles promotion.
