Qantas routes Australia to/from USA Canada
Looking for awards only on LAX-SYD route restricts your options.
AS award chart:---> https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mi...s/award-charts

Note these routes and/or aircraft type may change. Not all routes have flights every day.
May not be up to date
BNE-LAX B330

MEL-LAX B787 (was the first A380 route for Qantas on 21 October 2008)
MEL-DFW B787
SYD-DFW B787 A380

SYD-AKL-JFK B787 (from June 2023)
SYD-LAX A380 B787
SYD-SFO

General
The QF A380 have first, business, premium economy & economy classes. Only the A380 has first class.
The QF B787's have, business, premium economy & economy classes. The B787’s do not have first class.
All QF B747's have been retired and sent to the Mojave desert. (July 2020)

QF starts to release their awards 353 days out to QF frequent flyers. But awards can be released any time out to departure. Anyone can join the QF ffp and then search for award availability. Be careful about mixed economy/business QF awards. These have an identifying symbol on the award flight.

A business class flight will give access to the Qantas Club or Qantas Business lounge. Major domestic airports have both a Qantas Club lounge, for mid level Oneworld status holders and paid QF club members, and a better Business lounge, with access by business class of service or top level Oneworld status. Domestic lounges can get very busy at morning and late afternoon peaks.

From QF web site QF seat maps

Qantas Australia domestic
Award availability on QF domestic routes in both business & economy is usually OK. Can be harder on longer routes (say 3~ 4 hour flights).

The workhorse of QF Mainline domestic fleet is the B737-800. QF have 75 of these in a 12J162Y configuration. Some schedules have a A330, some of which have international style business seats. These 2 aircraft types are also used on trans Tasman routes (Australia to New Zealand).

The QantasLink brand is used on regional routes to smaller cities and towns. The aircraft used are Dash 8's (de Havilland Canada DHC-8-200, Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 & Q400) in all an Y configuration, Foker 100 in all 105Y configuration and B717's in 12JY98 or 125Y configuration.

Alaska did looks like have some IT problem with Qantas.............I called Alaska right away after seem this post, no dice.......call again in March 6th, still nothing same as Alaska website nothing, Yesterday March 9th I checked Alaska website, it showing up (but between 12/22-12/24 just have 1-2 J left for each flight, so inventory may showed up in Alaska website 1-2 days earlier), today I checked again, all the J is gone.

I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a root cause of this inventory not showing on AS. I have 2 in P on LAX-MEL showing in Expertflyer and BA, but not AA or AS. I have called AS partner desk twice and they have not be able to help.

So when is the QF partnership ending.? Every single domestic flight seems to have space in all cabins. There is 0 space TPAC after 12/17/18. BA website shows availability just fine.

It's very frustrating, I emailed AS and got this canned response:

"Thank you for contacting Alaska Airlines Customer Care. Like most inventory-driven businesses, Alaska Airlines makes mileage award reservations available based on the principle of supply and demand. I certainly apologize that we did not have a mileage award reservation available when you were looking at purchasing your ticket. Please contact Alaska Airlines Reservations or visit us at alaskaair.com to search mileage award reservation availability. Once again, we appreciate your business. We look forward to serving you once again in the very near future."

The best I can tell is that Qantas doesn't fully release awards to partners as with their own plan (my guess). I even thought about trying to book in AA, but hate the idea of spending 110K in AA points for a OW award in F while I have so many AS miles.

I just bought 2 first class award tickets using Alaska mines from lax to Sydney on December 22, so there is availability. I was surprised I was able to get two. Great deal. 70k only

Someone probably cancelled. I've been looking for several weeks. Calendar view was blank from 12/17 through end of year. no other partners available until January either. Normally space starts showing up by 280-300 days before departure. About a year or so ago space started appearing at the 330 day booking window. The booking window has been becoming smaller and smaller.

Once that magic date rolls around however, it seems to be quite open ^

I booked QF8 DFW-SYD in F for August a couple of months ago. Y & Y+ are still available on my same flight.

Interesting. Looks like QF8 has Y space up until the end of this year, but anything past Jan 2019 is completely gone. Maybe I missed it but Qantas is releasing space less than 330 days out now? Or perhaps the partnership is ending...

QF space is widely available after 12/17 but some reason international flight are being disallowed either by QF or AS.

Alaska just had a double mile promotion when flying Qantas for almost the last 6 months. I don’t think they’re ending anything, as I’m sitting here in the QF F lounge SYD (from OWE status) on an AS miles run

I took advantage of a couple of double miles in Y offers last year when flying Qantas to earn AS miles but haven't seen any offers or got any emails about offers for a while...

And to be frank with the ridiculous slowness of getting redemption options on Finnair and Singapore sorted and published and whether there will be more options for Asia to Europe etc I'm losing a bit of interest in the program living in Perth Australia....

Obviously you are not AS target customer. Have you actually ever flown on an AS flight? Singapore and Finnair aren't going to be helpful for you anyways as Australia wont be an allowed travel region.
