even though on return flights (CHS-SEA, IAD-SEA) they damn well know how many seats they have to sell or upgrade.

Ridiculous.

20 JAN MCO-SEA AS 9, 700AM departure (yay, its back!), MVPG 75K, booked 36 hours out. Was #9 on list. 3 cleared. Whats odd is I only saw the FA give out 2 other players, so wondering if my recent upgrade back to 75K didn't quite hit all the systems

20 JAN SEA-LAX AS460, 1215PM, MVPG 75K, OLCI #1 on list, cleared overnight

Yes, that is exactly what I experienced yesterday LAX-PVR! 8 seats available clearing the wait list at the gate.

AS21, ORD-SEA 7:45p flight
Waitlist was 41, with 6 cleared at the start of boarding. I'd applied a GGU at booking last month.

PDX-BOS
AS 30
MVP Gold
Fare Class: R

Was number 8/14 on the list with 6 seats available. During boarding, i was held back because the person above me was traveling with someone so i was next with 1 F passenger not checked in. A few minutes later they told me the passenger was going to make it so in the end i kept 6D.

Looks like we were seated right in front of you, CDKing, in 4DF! Our info:

1/22/17
PDX-BOS
AS 30
75K
Fare Class: T (as I recall)
2 75Ks on 1 PNR.

Flight was F7U0 all the way up until 75 minutes prior to takeoff. We were 1 & 2 on the list, and upgraded into the seats right in front of CDKing, as we requested. (Or would have requested if we'd known!)

...then we were on the return as well (MR!)...

BOS-PDX
AS 33
75K
Again, 2 75Ks on 1 PNR (did not leave my wife in BOS!)

Again, flight F7U0 until about an hour prior to takeoff (even though AS knew it was a 16F plane well before that - it was inbounding from PDX!). This time, we were 2 & 3 on the list, but we (and 7 others) were upgraded.

Ms. dave1013 and her mom returning from Orlando scored the upgrades. An amazing nine people were upgraded at the gate.

My flight tomorrow night has at least nine F for sale and eleven unassigned F. I was upgraded at the window but it's white-boxed F now.

It seems like holding back six would be sufficient.
