Consolidated Horizon E175 Discussion Thread

I heard Horizon already started using new E175 recently but I have no idea where to find which routes are using these new E175. Any idea? Thanks!

The first Horizon E175 isn't due until sometime nexy year. SkyWest is operating them for AS already, though, but I don't think there's any listing of routes by aircraft type. I can say that they're used on a lot of intra-west coast flights like PDX-BUR and SJC-SNA, as well as a lot of mid-cons out of Portland like PDX-AUS and PDX-MCI.

Spoke with a 12-year QX flight attendant who said the E175's will be used on new routes and the Q400s are sticking around to serve the routes they already do. Not sure if that's accurate but it will be disappointing if it is.

The E175 launch is going to coincide with the retirement of some of the oldest Q400s, so there's going to be some route takeover by the Embraers.

Here are the first five routes for Horizon Air’s Embraer E175 jets that will arrive Spring 2017:

Portland-St. Louis, starting in May
Portland-Dallas/Ft. Worth, starting in June
Seattle-San Luis Obispo, starting in June
Seattle-Colorado Springs, starting in July
Seattle-Santa Barbara, starting in July

Both currently have Sky west operated E175's on some frequencies in these markets don't they?

They all do actually, with the exception of SBP, which is a new city for Alaska. Horizon will be replacing Skywest on these routes - not sure what the plan is for the planes Skywest flies on behalf of Alaska.

More new routes I bet

Word on the street is some of them will make their way north to take over some of the intra Alaska flying. Time will tell.

That would be exceedingly disappointing for those of us who have to deal with the 500+ mile Q400 flights. The E75s are more economically efficient than Q400s over 400 miles but they're still going to fly them on 618 mile SEA-STS? Or 543 mile PDX-OAK, where there is plentiful 737 competition. :td:

These aren't going to be the only Horizon E75 routes. They're getting 30 planes, if I remember correctly. I'd be very surprised if those PDX-California routes don't get moved to the E75 sometime next year.

My understanding of the original plan was QX would operate E175's on routes over 400 miles. I am sure that will get a slow start as the new planes trickle into the fleet.

Agree it'll be a trickle.

It's not like AS and a new 739. This is a new aircraft type, and requires substantially more training for pilots and even FA's ;)

I'm sure they're excited though  aside from having a F cabin :p

As QX takes over these routes, the OO E175s are going to have to be used somewhere. I'd guess PDX-OAK and PDX-SMF would start seeing them pretty quickly.

I realize that economics trumps everything, but it's unfortunate that Horizon is choosing to take over some existing SkyWest E75 routes rather than deploying the new planes on its own Q routes.

Is PDX-DFW AS' longest E75 route?
