SJC-EWR starting in March, 2017
SEA-EWR (increase frequency from twice daily to three times daily) starting in May, 2017.

It's great to see AS getting serious about NYC; this will more than double their overall number of flights per day.

I wish this went along with picking stocks or lottery numbers.

It does look like they plan on being serious NYC players. LAX and SFO VX transcons, and now these additions.

And for SEA, more U space opportunities maybe, plus an extra 500 miles.

Are we using newly acquired airframes or is this where we see smaller planes showing up on other routes to keep the same number of reps into west coast airports?

I could see AS axing SAN-MCO and SAN-BOS(especially this one) to help with this growth. Both of these are usually wide open.

The Alaska Route Map has been updated

The Alaska Route Map has been updated
Under the new routes section you can see:

PDX-EWR starts November 10, 2016, 1x daily
SAN-EWR starts November 21, 2016, 1x daily
SJC-EWR starts March 12, 2017, 1x daily

https://www.alaskaair.com/content/ro...plore-routeMap

This will make 58-nonstop destinations from PDX that AS serves. Wow.

I doubt SAN-BOS is going away any time soon.

AS has flexibility on when they retire 734s and 73Gs (or converting the 73Gs to cargo) if they need it, plus new deliveries.

not true. not true at all. I've flown SAN-MCO and SAN-BOS a number of times over the last few years and there have been few, if any, seats available. Alaska isn't keen on keeping money losing routes around and both of these have been around for a while.

+1 I am on SAN-BOS-SAN at least 6 times a year and have never seen more than a handful of open seats.

Also, big ^ to the SAN-EWR-SAN schedule!
