I just booked several round trips between Anchorage and Juneau for September, October and December. Most of the flights are on the 734 and several of the multi-stop milkrun flights are on the 73Q combi. It turns out that if I want to fly mid-day from JNU to ANC (not early morning or late evening) there seems to be no choice but to get on a combi ...

So if you're interested in combining the milkrun *and* the combi, head up to Alaska - you're still in luck!
I've looked into flying AS61 JNU-YAK-CDV-ANC and AS50 ANC-SCC-BRW... cheapish flight on miles and all on the combi... plus I've never been to YAK, CDV, or anywhere north of ANC. Funny how you can live in AK for nearly 23 years and only have seen such a small part of the state...

I'm curious as to the final plan for BET, OME/OTZ, and BRW. If the 400s and 400 combis are being phased out by late 2017, when will they announce definitive plans for the replacement passenger-carry options for those routes?

I'm going to monitor this thread. I'd love to fly on the last flight, in fact my first ever AS flight in 2004 was on a 737-400 from PHX-SEA. I can't imagine AS without them.

sounds like a worthwhile endeavor ... maybe some of the well-connected regulars could discreetly publicize relevant info as it becomes available

Looking for an update on the 734 fleet retirement plans. Up thread it says they will all be gone this fall. Is that still the plan, and how many are left?

We have a chance to fly the classic back from PDX in April, and if they are scarce maybe now is the time.

Currently 15 actively flying 400's and 1 in process of lease return. They will all be lease returned or retired by the end of the year.

I just booked Alaska 66 for February. Last time on a Combi for me (I don't fly to Juneau much anymore). Will be bittersweet!

It's not uncommon for AS66 to change from a combi, AS61 doesn't change as much.

66: Evening ANC-CDV-YAK-JNU-SEA
61: Morning SEA-JNU-YAK-CDV-ANC

From what I can tell, there are still 15 active 737-400s:
N708AS
N709AS
N713AS
N760AS
N762AS
N763AS
N764AS
N765AS
N767AS
N768AS
N769AS
N791AS
N792AS
N793AS
N794AS

Retired recently:
N703AS (Sept)
N706AS (Jun)
N756AS (flew SEA-PAE this past week)
N788AS (Aug)
N797AS (Oct)
N799AS (Sept)

Unrelated... not sure what N619AS is doing again.. appears to have been parked at SEA since NYE.

65 doesn't seem to change much from the combi either. Also an option for those looking to book a flight on a combi.

I've had enough of them personally.

Four to five weeks is normal for a 700. 619 is scheduled to be back in service next week.
