BA ticket on AS metal; AA account name doesn't match ticket name

BA ticket on AS metal; AA account name doesn't match ticket name

Have a BA award ticket on AS. The ticket shows my last name as "LastnameJr". If I try to add my AA number, I get an error saying the name on the account doesn't match the name on the ticket. I called AS and they said they couldn't do anything. Just called BA and from their end the ticket looks fine, and the name has the space between "Lastname" and "Jr" correctly.

I was hoping to get my bag fee waived tomorrow. Is it possible I can show my AA status (on the AA app; I've unfortunately not received a physical card) and get the fee waived at checkin?

That may take a supervisor, but I don't see why not. Have the agent try to put in your number, and if it doesn't take, call the supervisor and see if they'll waive it for you for the system issues. AS is usually pretty reasonable with things like this.

For some reason I am able to put in my AS MP number on the BA awards on AS metal at T-24 hrs when I check in but not earlier. If you can't get it done before then it might work at that time.

And yeah, BA always does weird stuff like "firstname ms. lastname", its mildly irritating but ends up working.

Send a Tweet to the Alaska team about this. They have fixed mine twice before.

It's actually the only reason I use twitter, to contact airlines with simple assist/requests.

Just send a direct message to Alaska Air on Twitter and ask them to do it. They're good at this, I get them to add my AS number to BA reservations all the time even though the name winds up being lastnamemr.

I assume they can also take care of it for an AA number.

Checked in and waiting for the plane. My experience: the agent (who was in training) and her trainer were both happy to help. It's unclear how they would have managed adding the waiver without the FF# on the reservation, as they ended up just waiving the bag fee due to another criteria. Sounds like they would have figured out a way to add the number and/or waive the fee anyway.
