The funny thing is I noticed that the U space was actually available about 20 minutes before check-in time.

I called MVPG line and the agent insisted that I should get an upgrade through the online check-in. I mentioned to him that the check-in time will be the next 20 minutes. He agreed and asked if he could put me on hold.

He put me on hold for ... 20 minutes. When the check-in time approach, I did online check-in and get my upgrade. Few seconds after that, the agent came back and said "oh! look like everything is done. Have a nice day!"

FWIW, I am pretty sure I didn't jump anyone but it is not impossible.

Lo and behold, I got an email from AS at 0500 this morning saying I'd been upgraded, leaving my wife and two small kids in coach.

Because I'd like to remain happily married, I called AS and had them put me back into my original seat in Y, and confirm I wasn't wait listed for F. Problem solved, right?

Nope...less than one hour later I was bumped back into F. By the time I noticed it, someone had already snagged my aisle in Y. So I did the gentlemanly thing and sent the wife to F while I'm in a middle seat in Y with the kiddo.

I guess AS really wants me to fly F.

The kicker is the FA says I can't have my 75K benefits because I'm supposed to be in F. As John Candy once said, sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Interesting. I just got an email from AS that my whole family was upgraded (I'm the only MVPG (or MVP for that matter) in my family of 4). Looks like 75% of the F cabin was empty. T-30. Odd (but not complaining)

6/30 JFK-SEA AS7 MVPG, purchased about 6/15. 9 out of 15 for 0 seats, and that was with a B fare. At least I got my first MVPG chocolate.

Huh what? Never heard of that before. I thought you could only get an upgrade of 1 companion.

7/4 AS3415 SLC-BOI, upgrade at window

Looks like I'll likely have the cabin to myself. Hopefully I get a cute FA. Let the Dom flow!

JFK-SEA
AS7
MVPG

1/1 for unclear number of seats.

B fare bought by contractor travel agent a few weeks before. Forgot to add myself to the waitlist, called AS ~22 hours prior to departure to get on. Upgrade cleared sometime overnight before departure. 3 other F seats available when I woke up, and although nobody else joined the waitlist, F was full on departure. Not sure how they got there.

$$$ at check-in, or potentially non-revs.

7/5/16 SEA-ANCAS 85 MVPG 75K Didn't clear.

Not only did I not clear, the last F seat went to someone on the "awaiting seats" list, not the F wait list. Annoying to say the least when you're next in line on the F upgrade list.
