14 miles to MVPG75k. Yes, FOURTEEN

So, as the title suggests, i'm fourteen miles from the 90k i need for MVPG75K. I think I'm going to call in and see if AS will find 14 miles laying around to gift me. So that got me thinking.. that has to be some sort of record for close but no cigar for elite status. Anyone else come close like this?

Be careful. You don't want to miss out of 50K bonus miles if they do something wonky.

I just called and they gave me status. I specifically asked if I would still get my bonus and she said yes.

That was going to be my suggestion. Very little shocks me, but had they refused, I would have been stunned at hearing it.

I wouldn't have been surprised if they said no; the first two years of the 75K program operated with a "no waivers, no favors" philosophy. I personally know of someone who was 20 miles short of 75K in 2012 and they remained MVPG.

Gosh that's so cold. Understand sticking to a policy, but that scenario would definitely drive me away from any business.

Its 20 miles... just a quick hop to BLI

I liked it myself more when AS maintained the integrity of the 75K program without status matches and such

OK now I'm interested - anyone know if BLI is the shortest flight from SEA? YYJ looks like 4 miles longer and I couldn't think of anything else reasonable (unless there are flights from Lake Union maybe but AS doesn't have any floatplanes I think).

I'd think PDX would be cheaper than BLI though.

It's close, but Bellingham (93.9 miles) edges out Victoria (97.7). Yakima is 103 miles, Vancouver is 127 miles, and Portland is practically long-haul at 129 miles!

You're also leaving out EAT at 94 miles.

40k on AS. 60k on partners. 50k able to be credited to my AS account.
