Need 3,500 miles for 75k

Looks like I'll be 3,500 miles short of 75k this year and AS says no word on buying up this year. My schedule is completely booked, I have 12/11 & 12/14 to fly. Any ideas for me for runs out of SMF or SFO?

Called today - AS says buy up available again as of today - if you need between 5000 -3000 EQM it is $575, between 3000-1500 EQM is $400, and between 500-1500 is $200.

Another option to consider.

Very reasonable prices for those who need it, especially 5K EQM.

Do buy ups get the 50K bonus miles?

Do you have to execute the buy-up before year-end? I am going to finish about 900 miles short of MVPG.

$400 for 2,666 miles

I'm going to be 2,666 miles short of basic MVP after flying my last segment in December, so I called to figure out my options.

Members who need between 1,500 and 3,000 miles will need to pay $400 for the tier status upgrade. There's no bonus miles or miles earned along with the offer, so the agent encouraged me to look for a flight that would earn me the miles along with the status. You have until January 10 to do the paid upgrade, so you might as well wait until the last minute to see if AS offers any other promos.

The closest I could find that works with my schedule is a single day roundtrip from my local PUW to BWI, and would earn me ~5K miles for ~$675, but when I weigh the extra $275, 19+ hours away from my family sitting on a plane, I think I'll probably just pony up and pay the $400. Heck, I could buy the upgrade for $400, buy 5,000 miles for $137.50, and still come out ahead with zero hours spent on a plane.

I wonder if I'll get 3x miles for using my Alaska Visa? Depending on if that works, I'll earn somewhere between 400 and 1,200 miles there on the $400 charge in any case.

Can this be done the web site or does one need to call?

I'm 410 miles short of MVP and really don't feel like jumping on a plane ride if I don't need too!

FYI, the buy-up is only available to people who earned status in the previous year.

My current Gold was a status match from Delta; so I am not eligible.

Same level of status, or earning any status enables you to buy up to a higher level?

I earned MVP this year. I'm going to finish about 800 miles short of MVPG and was going to try and buy up to that level. Will this be allowed?
