Don't mean to hijack the thread, but on a related note. You know what I found out the other day? You cannot change award types once your travel had commenced. I've always thought awards get repriced each time a change is made.

i.e. I booked a flight from DXB-HKG(J), stopover, and then onward to JFK(F). Flown DXB segment back in December. Realized now that I won't be able to fly the rest in the next 4 months. I was told since I've already flown the first segment, nothing will be repriced. So if I fly everything in J, no refund. Cancelling the last segment, no refund. errrrrrrr
Odd...I would hate to give up a CX F segment....maybe you need to make it a weekend trip to NY and back!

The worst part is I won't expect to fly the last segment before December. I was hoping to have it reprice as Middle East- HKG refund the difference. Apparently since travel already commenced I couldn't even do that. So I've essentially spent 70,000miles on a o/w DXB-HKG J.


The story does have a (somewhat) happy ending(so far). I manage to talk my way into getting the agent to change my ticket for 15months Gotta love Alaska's manual ticketing
