Why does AS charge $18.10 in fees for a DL flight, for which DL only charges $5.60?

I am booking a DL flight 1957 SLC-SEA on September 27th.

When I pull up the flight on the AS site it says it has $18.10 in fees. However the same flight on the DL site only lists $5.60 in fees.

Do you know what is going on here/why AS is collecting fees DL is not?

Thanks! Is this true for all partner reservations, or are there any differences between partners?

All partners have the fee.

BA has an aditional fee which is a fuel surcharge that is charges to all their partners.

This is just for award redemptions, right? It wasn't clear from the OP whether it was a paid or award ticket.

Yes. I don't think there would be any way you are booking a DL flight through AS, or were you thinking codeshare?

$12.50 fee is for awards.

Apparently there are ways of adding DL flights to itins by calling AS to add to an AS itinerary (or even UA) :o

That is very interesting. Could you link me to more information on this? I am particularly confused how UA, a non-partner would be involved.

No link for this info. AS has the ability, as with other TA's to add other flight options onto AS flights (assuming they are within the US- not sure about CA or MX)

Huh. How is the fare calculated?

Does it work with any US carrier? SW? AA?

If there is an interline agreement it can be added to AS ticket stock but i do vaguely remember that Missy said that AS can't plate TPAC/TATL flights so i think that's the only other exception. The following Link from UA forum which talks about the same happening on their side AS segments on UA stock

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...e-pqd-pqm.html

Now back on topic. It's safe to assume OP is referring to awards. $5.60 is the minimum TSA (9/11) security fee (one way single enplanement trip). There are other taxes and fees that are missing had it been a revenue ticket. US Federal Segment fee and PFC's don't apply to the domestic award ticket explaining the $5.60 + $12.50 Partner Fee
