No first class pax access to Cathay Lounge at SFO

Not sure if this has already been covered in another thread, but I just found out from AS that pax traveling on paid first class tickets will not be allowed access to the Cathay Pacific Lounge in the International Terminal at SFO.

Not in the least bit surprising, the policy has always been that F (and not U) gets access to the Alaska Airlines owned/operated lounges, but never the partner lounges.

Except that this was a city that had a BR for 30 or so years.

Very good news. With the AS lounge closure, I was sort of dreading the trip I have to make to SFO in October. But this definitely sweetens the deal. And thanks for the blog link, SFO777.

Alaska, I love you!

I'm a longtime SFO based Boardroom member. Went to Cathay's lounge at 6 AM today. Was only person there! Lots of great food. They have a noodle bar (cooked to order). Will be spending lots of time enjoying my noodles waiting out winter ATC delays! Alaska, I love you!

Note that the noodle bar will likely only be open for CX pre-departure hours.

Correct it takes a while for them to open up the noodle bar.

That said, it still looks like they'll have more offerings than just soup and cheese. Or pancakes. Right?

There are a couple of hot dishes, soup, some salad, muffins, decent wines, etc. No pancakes!

Some hot food other than soup would be a treat, and I'm hopeful some little sandwiches will be available. As for pancakes? I know I'm probably in the minority - but I've never been a big fan of the pancake printer machines. Those brownish little disks have a chemical-preservative taste that just doesn't cut it for me.

But an open bar? That's something I can live with ...
