AA reportedly taking over UA LAX T-6 Gates

Per A.net http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/6085848/

A perfect excuse for more "cozy-time" with AA!

According to that thread, AA is going to start LAX-PDX/SEA once they get the gates. Doesn't seem very cozy to me. More like sticking another knife in.

That would have meant I'd have to read through an A.net thread! I wonder if they plan shifting some capacity from PHX to LAX.

Maybe the tunnel between T4 and T5 will finally reopen...

(Or at least a bus bridge between T4 and T6.)

Those buses are quite scenic at LAX...but I'd rather have the tunnel open myself.

Since UA (or skywest or whoever it is) is dropping this route in Sept. AA may be picking up the slack. I would much rather have a real partner flying this over DL.

How credible is the claim? Hard to believe that AA would add routes already served by a partner (AS), with LOTS of competition (DL, VX, WN) pushing down fares. With gate limitations at LAX, one would expect higher yield destinations, service.

They might. They're building up Asia and have a lot of flights to feed in LAX. I've booked several through flights on AA ex-SEA recently, and honestly, it can be hard to find a seat for the SEA-LAX on a convenient flight if you're connecting onto AA.

Some talk about the T4-T5 tunnel opening in conjunction with the October gate 44 elevator/escalator refurbishing over at Airline Forums. The folks talking about it on Airline Forums are AA and DL employees.

When asking why the T4-T5 tunnel was not open to the public, an AS ticket agent at LAX said that it was AA who didn't want the tunnel open, not the TSA or LAWA as had been previously mentioned.

I'd love to see the T4-T5 tunnel open as the T4-T6 shuttle bus can take a long time. With PreCheck, it's often quicker to walk outside to the other terminal and reclear security there.

AA seems to be allowing some SEA-LAX-DFW-Destination fares for the same price (plus ~$4 in additional taxes) as SEA-DFW-Destination for many cities. Instead of taking the SEA-DFW redeye, taking the 8:35 pm or 9:05 pm SEA-LAX and connecting to the 1:20 am LAX-DFW can actually be a good option.

That thread seems to have disappeared.
