On the Sunday night after your status changes in the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan system, your new status will be applied to the reservations system (SABRE). The updated status will then flow into Alaska and other airlines' reservations gradually during the day on Monday.
There should not be a need to have your FF# deleted and re-entered.
You should see your status level appearing next to your name in the reservation displays. The display update may also lag behind what reservation agents can see.
Your position on the upgrade waitlist should also be then reflected correctly, although it has not been confirmed if 75Ks are actually moved onto the "priority" request queue for 75Ks. You may want to call in and verify.

Just Made MVP Gold.....Or Did I?
I've been flying a lot this year and on 4/1 qualified for MVP Gold. Within a week I noticed my status on-line changed to "gold" and my boarding passes showed that too. However, it appears that the tickets I purchased while only at MVP status do not appear to be updated. A flight I took yesterday is one where I have historically been able to upgrade as an MVP about half the time - but this time I was WAY WAY down the upgrade waiting list (and did not get a free drink offer while sitting in coach). I see the same thing for my flight later today.
I called AS to ask them to update their records and was told they show me as Gold, no need to worry and there's nothing else they can do. Am I paranoid? Did this happened to you when you first made gold?

No idea why, but I've been "nominated" for MVP Gold status.

Was status matched to Gold in 2013 and flew exactly one AS flight, although I did buy a lot of miles and redeemed them on EK F flights. Plus I cancelled my BofA AA CC well over a year ago. Anyway, thanks AS. Now I don't have to pay a fee when I change my EK flights.

I just made MVP and the status is reflected on account page online but I can't find any way to go in under my trips and delete then re-enter my MP #....it must require a phone call....is there a way to do this online so I don't have to have the phone agent go through all my itineraries one by one??

I started this thread back on 4/16 and can now confirm what most people are posting:
1. Despite what your boarding pass may say, how you're identified on the web site, etc. your waiting list status does not change simply because you make MVP Gold.
2. Calling is the only way to get it fixed (cancel and re-enter your number). However, it took me several tries to find a rep. who either knew this or would admit it - The first reps I spoke with stuck to the "oh you are MVP Gold for everything - you see it's printed on your boarding pass, right?"
I'm now taking flights that have been booked after making MVP Gold so the issue has gone away. Good luck to newbie golds out there.

1. You have to call and have the agent delete your MP number and re-add it.
2. It works the other way as well. If you make a reservation and then your status ends before the flight, you MAY get an upgrade if available.

Interesting, I was sorta dragging my feet calling about some summer trips to get the MP # taken out and re-entered to get MVP seats and last week I was able to change seats both on the mobile ap as well as on the regular site online...I had to wait at least another week or so, but it did work without calling so maybe that's been fixed??

So, overnight I careened back into Gold Territory. ^
:-: This morning I called the MVPG desk to have them remove and reinsert my MP number into four records for proper positioning on the respective waitlists.
The nice agent tried to do this and it didn't "take". It was still showing me as MVP (which is what some of you who look upon DEQM promotions with scorn and disdain would have me remain as for the rest of my life LOL). She consulted off line for a few minutes and came back and told me to call back next week. She insisted that the waitlist auto-updates for status on Sundays and this should all be taken care of by that process. But she understood my Ronald-Reagan-like perspective of "Trust, but verify!" and encouraged me to call back on Monday. If the waitlist auto-update doesn't cut it, they will do the manual taking-out and putting-back-in.
I will report back after next week's call.
