Reached MVPG with some DL flights last month. Long way to go to reach 75k again. It is odd to see that i need less miles if flying partner than i do if flying AS

My wife and I both hit MVP on May 5th thanks to the DEQM promotion...we switched over from UA Silver due to their revenue requirement...we will be happy to just maintain MVP each year, but with DEQMs, we are aiming for Gold by October! I wonder how many of us newly minted MVPs are former UA elites?

I think you have this backwards... 75k for AS metal; 90k for partner. So, you need quite a bit more if you're flying partner...

I hit MVP on 5/4. Some additional trips to LAX in May plus some trans-con flights this summer should get me to MVPG by October. Don't see me making 75k. I can't get on AS every time going to the Southeast and end up on AA 30% of the time.

I'm an ATL-based DL defector. I was GM for a couple of years, PM for a couple, then stuck at FO up until last year when I made it back to GM again. I jumped ship to AS MVPG after having something like 2/50 upgrade percentage over '12 and '13... if I'm not getting domestic upgrades anyway, I might was well let myself be price-agnostic between AA and DL. I've ended up in F way more often as MVPG through Gold Guest Certs on ATL-PDX/SEA flights mostly. Unless the DL relationship goes even further south (i.e. diminished earnings on lower fare classes or completely split) I'll remain quite happy as an AS MVPG flying from ATL.

I'm only 2500 away from MVPG, but have no paid travel booked on AS the remainder of the year
And oddly enough, a significant amount of my travel has been on partners. I blame the LA fare to EZE for this
Not sure I'll make 75K this year based on current bookings

I was in your shoes, since they disallowed a bunch of LA miles (after telling me on the phone that they would count before I booked it). Fortunately, I was able to convince a customer to book me back from HKG in paid J on CX, so that should help a bit.
