Thanks JimmyJoe - I already have my AS number attached on the booking for the QF operated flights as well as the QF coded EK operated flights. Fingers crossed I get credit for both!

How did you position to CAI? Did you use an award or revenue ticket? I have contemplated your very scenario, but positioning to CAI seems to be the wild card!

I actually was already in ICN and used 40k AA miles for EY F ICN-AUH-CAI in May. I then purchased a $1800 CAI-LHR-SEA-HNL BA J fare (there's a long thread about this fare and it's still readily available). I returned on this ticket via LAX LHR to CAI to fly this QF/EK to ZQN and back.

BTW the BA outage canceled my CAI-LHR flight. BA ended up paying for my hotel in CAI for 2 more nights as well as sending me a check for 600 Euros compensation.

Oh cool. I hope they credit!

Interestingly, the SYD-ZQN-SYD QF flights have not posted and say "Partner Pending" on my AS mileage activity. It's stated this for about 3 weeks and appeared a free days after I requested the miles on AS website (which did not require, or give me the option to, upload boarding passes.

Today I spoke with Customer Care and they asked me to email the boarding passes. It's ironic that the flight segments that I would think would credit first (QF on QF) didn't.

Bumping this old thread to see if anyone has had recent experience with QF/EK codeshares. Contemplating a mileage run out of CAI that includes a QF ticketed, EK operated flight. It seems 'hope for the best' is standard with these codeshares, but wanted to get as many data points as possible.

But will it be QF marketed (QF flight number)? Who sells the ticket is not that important

Gah. Mistyped on my part. Yes, it's QF marketed (QF 8412), operated by Emirates.

EK is the only AS partner where AS's terms state flights must be ticketed by EK to earn miles. Whether they'll fudge that rule as they do with partner/partner codeshares, I can't say with any certainty, but experiences upthread make it sound like they might.

Anything new since this post? Just pressed my luck on a decent QF coded AKL-SYD-SIN(QF)-DXB-BNE (EK) itin.

I just tried to pull it up on QF site and its showing cancelled now. PL still shows active $87 round trip. I was going to be in Australia anyways and booked as a same day turn. It was a dumb booking for me anyways so i guess I wont be going even if I wanted to.

What is your flight number? It must fall within the range of eligible QF flight numbers listed here.

Qualify for mileage accrual

Flights must fall within the eligible flight number range below, and your flight must be marketed and operated by Qantas.
Eligible flight numbers
  • 1–199
  • 400–1343
  • 1400–1625
  • 1640–1659
  • 1700–1949
  • 2000–2293
  • 2300–2554
  • 2557–2580
  • 2600–2605
  • 2630–2669
  • 2800–2899
  • 2921–2931
  • 3683–3792
  • 7000–7189
  • 7800–7999
To ensure flight credit, the two-letter airline code (QF) must precede the flight number (for example, QF XXXX) on your ticket receipt or boarding pass.

You've been around here long enough to know that AS credits partner-partner codeshares based on operating carrier, not marketing.
