Hey, they are learning. At least the buy-ups to main aren't universally $30 any more.
The $39 SJC-BUR fares are $54 in main. And I've seen some other fares with $20 buy-ups.
Also this actually appears to be a sale, not an all-around price increase like the Black Friday / Cyber Monday "sales". Too bad they are doing this a week after everyone already spent their money...

Leaving Fri afternoon, returning Mon afternoon... main cabin coach fares during "flash sale":
SEA-PHX $564
SEA-LAX $401
SEA-SFO $308
SEA-HNL $576
The only one of these that I thought might be a good deal was HNL.
But that fare stayed the same after the conclusion of this flash sale.

This "flash sale" was another joke, at least for the destinations I looked at for Memorial Day weekend.

SEA-HNL $576

And we're not talking Thanksgiving, July 4th, Xmas here.
Yeah Memorial Day, spring break, Labor Day, mid-winter break, etc, etc are also quite busy. But travel-heavy times are generally the only times we can travel for leisure. Same goes for most of our circle of friends/colleagues.
So it just proves sort of the obvious... these flash sales are pretty meaningless to many of us. But if you have a more flexible situation and are content with AS only offering unpopular dates and times on its flash sale, then good for you.

Why not? If AS meant for this sale to be truly useful for most of us.

(I’ve actually gotten decent results flying on the Saturday of long weekends, shame on me for being flexible I guess.)

For what it's worth, Flash Sale email received for ticketing today (Thursday, December 27th) by midnight. The usual Tue/Wed/Sat for travel through March 13.
I have no reason to go to MCI, but one could do so relatively cheaply and the buyup out of X is reasonable.
