AK CUISINE....sorry to hear that your travels are currently exclusively for your cancer treatments. Chemo is rough enough without including air travel as part of your care. I just finished my chemo and now into my daily rads.
Best wishes and prayers to you and your recovery.

I must say, that new DL skyclub at SEA looks amazing. Much more impressive than AS's two SEA boardroom offerings combined.

Holiday Inn Express is not an airline.

Regardless, I do believe AS had it before HIX did.

pcoll, sorry to hear you're also a member of the "C Club," but probably not the same branch as mine - ovarian.

Thanks for your words of support, edgewood49. Although I've only met a few of the folks from here on FT, I do think of you folks as my cyber-friends.

This is OT - just try to stop me! - but I do have a big trip planned for November, provided my blood counts stay in acceptable range. It falls during what should be my 'good' week (chemo is every 3 weeks, with the first week being the roughest). I've been holding first class tickets on Emirates, booked pre-devaluation, for LAX-DXB-HKG, with a return HKG-DXB-SFO. I held on to the tickets after my diagnosis, probably due to a combination of both denial and optimism.

If I get the okay from my medical team, this will be my third trip in EK F to Hong Kong in the past few years. My fingers are crossed! ^

I'm surprised that DL has more J availability to Europe than AA does.

Given that EK F is now priced stratospherically, I'm not sure the gap is as huge as it has been in the past. Yeah, their pricing on SkyPesos™ is ridiculous sometimes, but it ain't easy getting to Europe without going through London on oneworld if you don't have AB or IB...

I must be looking at different airports in Europe because I have seen more upper class awards on AA than DL, near and long term flights. I check everyday for a certain route and see on DL's chart four seats taken in Biz for the past three months yet no award for AS, DL ff yes but no AS.

What is interesting is the lack of AF for example awards. AS "partners" are being tight fisted on Biz/FC seating again near / long.

An alliance membership while may caused points required to increase for upper class booking at least you would have access to them.

The other pain I have is there seems no way on say DL or others to book premium coach through awards. there are some carriers out there with some pretty good products going across the pond.

pcoll and AK Cuisine: I'm keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers. I just lost a long time friend to a rare form of Lymphoma (blood cancer) and my sister is currently battling - and beating - breast cancer after already beating ovarian cancer. I hope you both are victorious in your battles and look forward to hearing of lots of trips in F in the future for you both. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you!^

I hope to be able to post some reviews - hopefully of *good* meals - from my positioning flights in mid-November, rustykettle. ANC-SEA-LAX and SFO-SEA-ANC. But what's this about Seat 2A? Yikes, did I miss something - I thought he was away traveling.

Blanket Wars

It's bad enough that AS rarely provides blankets in first class - typically only on late-night redeyes - but apparently DL is upping their stake in the blanket game. From Frequent Business Traveler:
"Delta Air Lines announced that it will begin offering new Westin Heavenly In-Flight blankets in its domestic first-class cabins in the middle of next month.

The blankets were designed by Westin and Delta’s in-flight service and brand team, with input from customers. The new blankets are part of an existing partnership between Westin and Delta.

In addition to the new Westin blanket, Delta will upgrade its blanket offering in its main cabin."
