To try to make sense of what's all happening between AS and DL, the idea arose during the recent Alaska do to create a compendium in the wiki of the various stages of the current spat. Please add your knowledge where you can!

RIP. Just status-matched from UA to AS for the SEA-IND direct. Probably will fly AS to earn gold then match to DL and get the credit card (probably can't spend $6k PQD in a year).

DL's 738 SEA-IAD doesn't test my AS loyalty. A 767 (like DL occasionally does on SEA-ATL) would be a different story.

Delta's got an interestingly specific fare attack on Seattle going today. $55 each way from SEA to MFR, RDM, EUG, wide open dates. Delta is up to 2x daily to all of those routes this summer. Alaska isn't matching.

Interesting price change: according to the "Three Day Sale" email I got, SEA-IND now bottom out at $199 o/w instead of $149. Guess they're milking it before Delta starts competing service on 16 June? Hope it doesn't get canceled. The SEA-IND flights are almost always full, but I doubt the route can support two daily flights that takeoff and land within 20min of one another - unless IND gets chosen for Amazon HQ2

They send the E175 to SIT and KTN currently. I doubt they’d fill up an empty 737 with fuel and fly it around in circles over those two airports for five hours if they didn’t have something up their sleeve.

Delta was certifying SIT RNP approaches. These are modern approaches that allow much lower minimums in mountainous terrain. This will allow for better operational reliability. AS already has these approaches but feels no obligation to share them with DL so DL has to certify them independently. They used a 737 because that was what was available.

The certified approaches will be available to all DL and DL Connection Carriers with RNP capability (such as Skywest). This does show a commitment by DL to these routes but doesn't mean they are planning on starting service all year or upgrading to 737.

Interesting, thanks. I didn’t know it extended to the regional carriers; I wonder if DL might give JNU a shot again in the winter sometime with an E75 if they are able to actually land and take off this time around.

Is JNU still trying to lure DL back in the winter? JNU makes some sense year round, especially if they can reliably get an RJ in and out of there this time around, but geez...SIT is a town of 8,000 people. There just isn’t much of anything going on there between October and April. Same thing is pretty much true of KTN.

Speaking of Alaskan destinations on DL, looks like FAI is getting the E175 again but only for a few months (January/February/March, roughly). They’re sending the A319 up there the rest of the non-summer months. Of course it’s DL, so schedule changes are very likely. The A319 is also showing up on some of their ANC segments for the winter.

Delta is cutting their 3x daily YYJ-SEA flights at the end of summer, and just flew their last YEG-SEA flight at the beginning of Mar. Both routes cancelled due to low yield/underperformance. Wonder if the DL plan to consolidate flying into only 3 regionals had any effect? Or if we'll see them pull out of any previously AS only routes?
