I think a midwest/east coast ad campaign is in order regardless of branding decisions. Not too long ago in the N terminal at SEA, a man in a Cleveland Indians cap asked "what is that?" pointing at Chester. I explained it is an aircraft for Alaska Airlines, and it is an eskimo. I don't think he understood.

Fix what is broken and that action alone could set an air carrier like AS apart from the others. Leave the Alaska Airlines name alone ... and for heaven's sake, don't touch our smiling Eskimo!
Instead, please do spend money buffing up things that matter to people who spend time - sometimes lots of time - on aircraft.
For starters:
-- Improve the food service, quality and selection, both up front and in the back of the bus.
-- Ditch the danged digi-players and buff up the inflight entertainment system.
Give people excellent service, good food and quality entertainment -- not a marketing name-change sleight of hand gimmick.
