SFO Now Known as "Bay Area"

"Need Anything for Your Trip to Bay Area on Jul 6?"

Not only is this grammatically incorrect, but I'm not sure the folks who run the SFO airport would appreciate being disassociated with their namesake city. Is AS doing this to OAK and SJC as well? Are they planning to make up new names for other airports?

Wonder what the new moniker is for LAX/BUR/ONT/SNA/etc. "Southland", perhaps?

At least they didn't name it the San Jose Bay Area.

That is really an awful development. It might also lead to people accidentally more likely to choose the wrong airport while booking.

The display is ignorant, insensitive and slightly arrogant, espicially considering that AS ditched the concept of co-terminals and corresponding fare rules.

On non-rushed days that I feel like riding BART or Cal-Trains to San Bruno or San Francisco, I can accept 'Bay Area', but otherwise, my trip is SFO.

To be fair, the reservations page still lists it as: "San Francisco, CA (SFO-San Francisco Intl.)" but for some reason I just felt slight perturbed by the email.

Maybe they should replace SEA and Bellingham with "Puget Sound Airports"

Or better yet, add PDX and a few others and call them "Pacific Northwest."

It's actually in unincorporated San Mateo County, however, it's owned by the city of San Francisco.

It's also worth noting that the proper name for the region is the San Francisco Bay Area.

I thought SFO was going to be renamed after Harvey Milk. If the name change becomes a reality, AS will have to update its systems again.

Skybus called BLI Seattle/Vancouver.

Only some airlines use Seattle/Tacoma instead of Seattle as the destination name for SEA.

Thanks for the feedback; while I make no guarantees, I've passed the concerns along.
