This is just a scratchpad for now, throwing some links to some commonly-used threads in the AS forum. If you can see the "Edit" button on this wikipost, please use it and help us develop this!
How should I refer to Alaska in this forum?
AS. Alaska's two-letter IATA designation comes from the days when it was briefly known as Alaska Star Airlines. We use AS here to respect that heritage. Kidding; we use it so we can pretend we're part of some sort of elite club of smart people. Whatever you do, don't refer to Alaska as "AK"--we'll either get confused that you're talking about the state or that little discount airline in Southeast Asia known as "Air Asia." Or AA, that's American Airlines. Otherwise, we'll pretend to be confused and will (hopefully) gently correct you so you can be a member of the secret insider's club, too.

Glad this functionality has been enabled for members. Rearranged/added a little. Changed all links to {{url=Option}value{/url}} format for easier interpretation.

Could we add content for the partner benefits also, specifically AA and DL. There's a general DL benefits thread, a DL upgrade thread(ha!). I think there's a general AA benefits thread also, plus some issues with seat selection.

Actually, what I am looking for as a new AS flyer is a comprehensive overview of all the possible upgrade routes. From my limited understanding there are basically four ways to get an upgrade:
1) buy a qualifying fare based on your status level for instant up if U>1
2) buy any fare and hope for a complimentary upgrade
3) buy any* fare and use an MVPG guest upgrade (*searching for flights i am seeing that "any fare" really doesn't mean ANY FARE and somehow these are fare restricted -- how does that work and what buckets are NOT eligible?)
4) upgrade with miles from any* fare (see any* fare clause above)
This would be an abundantly useful sticky or wikipost for those of us migrating to AS from other carriers!

Really you captured them all (MVPG Guest Upgrades are eligible on all paid coach fares except G and T; mileage upgrades require at least an H fare) except paid upgrades on day of departure.
