Couple of other notes...

It's a redeye turn, so probably using a plane that would otherwise be sitting in SEA overnight.

This is in addition to LGB service

Presumably operated on the A320.

Wow this will be epic... double miles ANC-SEA?

Might be retaliation for BOS-SAN (which is a B6 route).

I have to wonder if AS would respond with BOS-SJC.

I'm also assuming revenue regain. Just like when AS started flying SEA-IAH, CO started SEA-ANC.

Uh, not really. CO flew SEA-ANC for years before AS started SEA-IAH.

Correct that's looong been a CO route...

Good for B6 but kind of an odd route for them seeing not much of a hub in SEA- guess they'll be relying on O&D.

Then was it for another AS route? I thought I read that CO sole purpose of SEA-ANC was because of a route AS started into one of CO's markets.

More like decades. SEA-ANC on CO shows up in timetables back in the 80's. I remember seeing a CO MD-80 at the old gate A1 in ANC circa 1993.

Regardless, this should be interesting. It's been years since we had a new entrant on this route. We might finally be able to get to SEA and back for under $400 again.

Not really. CO and AS were on decent terms before CO went to *A and into UA's embrace.

CO flies SEA-ANC because a lot of businessmen from that part of Texas end up in Anchorage for something Alaska exports...

Not much competition since MarkAir went Tango Uniform.

Looking at the B6 schedule out of SEA, this flight really only connects to BOS (with a six hour layover) and LGB (which B6 already flies nonstop from ANC). So they are going to rely almost solely on O&D to fill that plane up. Watch out for some really good fares on this route next summer.

As recently as 10-ish years ago, DL, pmUA, CO, and AA/TW all flew ANC-SEA. 9/11 changed a lot of that.

This will be great for Jumpseating! Alaska is always full, United gets a little more full in the summer. Will be great to have one more option and it probably wont be too loaded!
