Perks

Chauffeur Drive NOT Available
Car service is not available for all Business Class and First Class passengers on Alaska Airlines ticketed award tickets on Emirates flights (as of Jan 2015). The chauffeur will not confirm if you use the EK website for this, though the website makes it look you can make a reservation.

Lounges
Access is available for all passengers traveling in Business and First Class. Not all cities have lounges and many may be operated by a Partner. There have been some reports of people having an issue accessing the Dubai lounges as the tickets may appear in their system as non-revenue employee travel. This is not as much of a problem as it used to be but in case it comes up please advise the lounge attendant that you are on an Alaska Airlines award.

Dubai Connect

AS Awards on EK do not qualify for Dubai Connect, which is the service that offers the free hotel.

Tricks to find Transoceanic availability

Instead of performing a blanket, i.e. SEA-DXB search, perform: SEA-MED.
Madinah is a destination that is only served by EK. Consequently, if there is availability, only EK will show up in the calendar results.

Agree. Its almost impossible to find space headed to the US on EK.

Am I correct to assume that miles cannot be redeemed for routes not listed on the AS website such Europe-Oceania, intra-Oceania etc.?

Not sure about the website, but currently, all EK award routings must be to/from NA.

I'm finding plenty of availability on EK to JFK. I'm sure it just depends on the date. However, the return timings don't work out quite well.

The consensus is that DXB-NA space j/f space is particularly hard to find, right?

Yes. Almost impossible at least from what i've looked at. I did find some far out DXB-MXP-JFK but DXB-MXP is the angled flat in F

Booked two J seats SEA-DXB-IST during the third week of september. There were several days open with J seats in SEA-DXB. Bummed about not getting the complimentary Dubai Connection though, as the layover is 17 hours.

EK F is not angled flat in any of their configurations.

Thats what I get for trusting seatguru, but now that I check again i was looking at seat guru 777-200. Looks like seat map is the regular 777-300 w/ 2-2-2 in F

In DXB, when trying to access the F lounge the agent, along with a manager, spent two minutes fiddling with the computer. Then the manager announced that I am an EK staff member to which I clarified that I wasn't.

They gave up immediately after my response and just waved me in.

I hope AS will work with EK and get this fixed.

Wow, not good. I'll test it next month when we transit DXB on our way to JNB.

Thank you for sharing.

I am looking at the XXX-HKG-JNB on CX F for a while. Now since both partners can be booked as one-way, this opens up some new options. I assume the JFK-DXB-JNB on EK would cost more than the XXX-HKG-JNB on CX.

Yes. US-DXB-JNB on EK is 100K, while US-HKG-JNB is only 70K. We split our trips up into one ways like this as we found that JNB/CPT-DXB-US on EK was impossible to find in advance for the dates we wanted. Another more expensive option is JNB-AUH-JFK/IAD for 135K AA miles although JNB-AUH is two class service. With AA miles, JNB-LHR-US on BA is also an option, but then you have BA surcharges and substandard BA F.
