East Coast
Boston
New York (JFK)
Orlando (Effective September 1, 2015)
Washington DC (IAD)
Canada
Toronto
Award Chart Links*:
Middle East & Africa
Asia
Europe
*If region is not listed on chart its not available.
Perks
Chauffeur Drive NOT Available
Car service is not available for all Business Class and First Class passengers on Alaska Airlines ticketed award tickets on Emirates flights (as of Jan 2015). The chauffeur will not confirm if you use the EK website for this, though the website makes it look you can make a reservation.
Lounges
Access is available for all passengers traveling in Business and First Class. Not all cities have lounges and many may be operated by a Partner. There have been some reports of people having an issue accessing the Dubai lounges as the tickets may appear in their system as non-revenue employee travel. This is not as much of a problem as it used to be but in case it comes up please advise the lounge attendant that you are on an Alaska Airlines award.
Dubai Connect
AS Awards on EK do not qualify for Dubai Connect, which is the service that offers the free hotel.
Tricks to find Transoceanic availability
Instead of performing a blanket, i.e. SEA-DXB search, perform: SEA-MED.
Madinah is a destination that is only served by EK. Consequently, if there is availability, only EK will show up in the calendar results.

Unfortunately that may not be accurate.
I'm holding a ticket that has a return HKG-DXB-SEA including a 3 day stop-over in DXB. When I tried to make a change to the HKG-DXB segment I was told by 2 different agents that it would also void my DXB-SEA segment. Both would have to be rebooked if either one was changed.

I also looked into extending my stopover in DXB by 1 to 2 days. But I was told that changing the DXB-SEA segment would also mean that the HKG-DXB segment would have to be cancelled and rebooked -- even though I didn't want to make any change to that flight.
Of course, there was no longer any Z availablility on that flight because I'd already taken the inventory. Argghhh.
Perhaps EK stands for "Everything's Kooky?"

Do be careful so that you don't inadvertently lose existing seats in the inventory. I almost did.

I'm so disappointed with this new relationship, it's fine for collecting miles on revenue tickets, but it doesn't seem worthwhile redemption wise.
It's extremely costly for F awards
They're never available
Almost impossible to get 2
I commend you Tall Travel Dude for your commitment...
I have up attempting to get J tickets to JNB, CX F was much easier and cost wise way better.

I know its mentioned in other threads but EK is now allowed under one way awards for 1/2 of teh RT award so should help if availability only comes up one way. Supposed to be working for web bookings but is not

Did this just happen? One-way EK awards were not available a week ago.

Early this morning. Award chart updated to show one way at 1/2 of RT for all carriers but Korean and DL
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alask...e-booking.html
So in theory, I can fly JFK-DXB on EK F (Seems to be more available going to DXB and not back) and then CX J/F DXB-HKG-JFK

In AF's case:
DXB-CDG-LAX is available on AF 3831 and AF 66... Engine tells me there is no space.
However, the ability to book one way is definitely a huge help in many scenarios.

Has EK become stingy on their US - DXB flights or do they not release them to AS? Searched several pairs during Oct and found none. Found quite a bit of business class.

IIRC ... EK does married segments. So their availability just to DXB is going to be less than US-DXB-onward.

2 Part Question:
I would prefer ex LAX, but only DFW is showing any Z or D during my desired dates.
1. Will the partner desk book ex DFW/IAH?
2. Will AS position me to Texas on an AA Code Share.
LAX-PDX-IAH, seems absurd vs LAX-IAH on AA metal with an AS flight #.

2) Negative, AS will not position you on an AA flight to connect to an EK (or other partner) award. AS will let you burn 12.5K AS miles to fly OW on AA though if you prefer. (probably better to pay for the positioning & earn EQM's, but I'd do a connection
