MD83 cn 53019 ex-N944AS crashed in Lagos this morning

knew that 944 sounded awfully familiar so I looked at my log....wow! I flew on that aircraft on 2/28/08 DEN-SEA.

Looks like Dana also has N947AS, N943AS, and N968AS flying for them. IIRC, 968 was one of two that had the extra fuel capacity for the Russian flights.

Flew it to DEN (MD-80 no clue if it was this particular plane).

Only other city I flew on an MD-80 was PHX. Less than 10 times total I would guess on an MD-80.

Any update on the cause?

Two engines fail at once while probably near idle on approach. What are the odds.

fuel starvation? bad fuel? I am sure its all speculation at this point.
