Any downside to doing it ?
Thanks!
Status matches can take as long as 3 weeks. If you're flying in just 11 days, there's some risk you won't have whatever Alaska status you're after by that time. You'd do better with the December flights.

It’s supposedly once per lifetime, so you’ve burned it for miles with a cost of about $500 if you just bought them. Do you plan to regularly credit to AS?

Few questions, apologies if they have already been addressed. I applied for Status match about a week ago but need to book flights for xmas time so the clock is ticking. If I book those now, and then recieve my status between now and then, will i immediately get the benefits? Mainly I am looking for auto upgrade (at least to e+) and the no cancellation fees as I may be cancelling these tickets if plans change. TIA!

Yes, you will get the benefits that you asked about as soon as you get confirmation of the status.

Cheers.

Though if flights are already booked, you may need to request they add/remove your FF# from the reservation in order for the system to recognize it/allow seating/upgrades to process, etc.

Much appreciate!

Just to note, took around 48 hours after match for my previously booked flights to show my status (first class waitlist/prem economy seats). I called the customer service line and they were able to manually put me into Premium Economy right away, but said it’d take 3-5 days for the system to update my trips status wise.

Re-adding FF# did not help.

Before you do that, do you have an existing Alaska account? Have you looked there to see if you've been matched?

Ended up doing the match in December. Requested Dec 4, matched to Gold 75K on Dec. 28th-- 24 days, and 2 days before I flew SQ Business Class BOM-SIN-NRT-LAX (ended up with 37,500 Alaska miles!).
Thanks for the info in this thread.

I previously status matched with AS at least 2 years back (maybe 3) as a UA 1K but recently got GS status with UA. Can I try another status match with AS again or is it only a once in a life time type thing? Also if so what is the status match with AS for a UA GS pax? Thanks in advance.

Its usually a once in a life time match. You could try, though, and let us know. My feeling is that 2-3 years is very recent, and it most probably won't work out.

I apologize if this was already asked. (I didn't have time to flip through 60 pages.) If it better to apply for the status match in the second half of the year so I can get status for the rest of the year plus the next year?

I believe that if you status match prior to October 1st the status will only hold for the year you matched.
