Money & Miles award: miles earned credit to AA?

Hi. I'm mainly an AA flyer but I also fly AS quite often for intra-West Coast travels. While I normally credit my AS miles to AA, often times later in the year I start crediting them to AS as I've reached the elite threshold on AA.

As such, I have about 50,000 AS miles banked in my account. Seeing that AS has a Money & Miles program in which I can receive upto $100 off/10,000 miles from an AS flight and still earn 100% miles credit on those, I was wondering if I can use 10,000 miles to knock off $100 of a one-way YVR-LAX flight I plan to book and credit that flight miles to my AA account?

I doubt it, but I could be wrong...

If I were you, I'd probably just shell out 2,500 miles more to get a free ticket. Since this trip will only earn you 1,081 EQMs... Not worth sacrificing 10K miles and shelling out more than $100 just to earn 1,081 EQMs...

I checked the OW fares in June and they are $91 [$137 inc. taxes], so you will only be able to save $46... Money and Miles only gives you 50% off of the base fare.

But, hey, that IS just over .5 cents in value per RDM spent! (No, that's not a misprint: one half a cent.)

My take would be to use your 50K on something much nicer than less than $50 off of LAX-YVR. For instance, intra-Asia awards on CX are 45K in C, 55K in F (Australia in C from HKG is 60K). The AS50s are really AS15s at this point, given the $100/$200 limits- basically you're redeeming at a cent a mile or less. Unless you're really hard up for cash or have AS miles to burn, I don't see the reason to EVER use an AS50 award- AS has really trashed the value out of these.
