Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. In Minneapolis, I checked with the GA for first class availability on my MSP-GEG leg and explained that I was partner elite. She said it didn't appear that way in their system (even though my boarding pass said Alaska Airlines MVP Gold # xxxx) so she wanted to see my current MVPG card. I showed it to her and she happily gave me a seat in first. So, I guess it never hurts to check at every possible opportunity and to flash that Gold card.....
On the way down, I could not print my Atlanta - Ft. Myers AS-codeshare bp online at all; AS only printed AS to ATL, and the DL PNR @ delta.com showed the flight, but "print boarding pass" was grayed-out. The ATL SC moat dragon printed it (on DL stock under the AS#) when I explained why I had no bp to present for entry.

It's good news to hear that a ATL-based DL agent is aware that upgrades for AS elites will be coming online soon. With the perpetual delays in rolling these upgrades out, I was starting to suspect that the partnership was never going to be "enhanced."

Premium seating available online!
Good news! Just booked a Delta flight with my MVPG # and was able to select premium seating online. So no more waiting for an agent. Now just need those upgrades and we'll be set...

I just sent an email to Delta customer service telling them how happy I am that the gate agents at SFO upgraded me on the SFO-MEM flight on 2/8/10. If you receive great service from Delta agents, be sure to send in a positive comment so those gate agents are rewarded for their superior service. ^

I've actually had a few random domestic op-ups on DL over the years even with no status.
The last time it happened was when my flight to ATL was canceled and DL auto-rebooked me on a much later flight through ATL which got into SEA super late. I asked the ticketing agent if there was anything he could do for me, and he offered me an earlier flight which was delayed to do WX and hadn't left yet. He then called down to the ramp and had them move my luggage to the earlier flight. At this point I didn't really care where I was sitting, but as I took my new BP's, thanked him and started to walk away he said "oh, and your flight to ATL is in first class!" I replied, "You're awesome!" I ended up having an empty seat next to me in F.
On top of that, he also put me in a much better seat on my ATL-SEA leg, and for the icing on the cake I received bonus MQM's for being re-booked in F and Y class respectively.
There were also a couple times when I took a VDB and was re-booked in a less than full F cabin.

Well, no dice going SLC-SEA. They were selling upgrades (not in my fare class) and seating some Delta pilots in F, too.
I got an exit row + empty seat next to me, which works for me. Plus free GoGo and TV...

Hopefully you enjoyed 1-class on BUR-SLC. Not too awful if you have the row to yourself, but the window seats tend to put a crick in my neck.

Nope, but 2A has more leg room than most, at least.

Apparently we cannot pick preferred seats after the reservation has been made [or it is because I made the reservation before the ability to pick preferred seats went "live"]. I had to call the Plat line to change my seats since the regular DL line is a bit "overloaded".
Inquired about the reciprocal upgrades.... Still no timeline or information on when the reciprocal upgrades will be implemented.

I have Silver status on DL but much prefer to bank miles with AS (since I get 200% return instead of 125%). I have a DL flight from SEA to SLC booked for next week. I entered my DL FF number at the Delta website to get access to better seat selection. If I wait till 24 hrs out to possibly get an upgrade and then switch to my MVPG number before checking in, will I get the best of both worlds? It sounds like I'll be locked out of an upgrade on the return flight unless I can talk a GA into giving me an open seat in F (if there even is one) based on my AS status.
The bottom line for me is that DL is an enormous operation and this is certainly low on the priority list of issues to address.

hmmm seat pilots for free or sell and make some money to a lower fare class That seems idiotic. Granted Im sure its nice when pilots or FAs get to sit in F but if somebody is willing to pay money to sit up there then you would think they would. I am dreading the day that AS comes up with the goofy fare class games that other airlines play
