Correct- that and let AS know that DL did not deliver- that way AS can contact DL about the rouge agents...

You can board in Zone 2, but they will demand to see your card. They will bounce you out of line if you don't have it. We have had this benefit for well over a year now, as I did this in Venice on DL around 12/2/2008

The status now prints on the bp itself though, right?

I was allowed to pre-board on several flights last autumn flashing my AS gold card, with my DL# on the bp itself.

They were wearing red last I flew them (Nov '09) - one fellow even wore a pink uniform!

I thought it was a nice touch on DL's part ^. For a month (Nov.) many agents wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Glad to hear that MVPG is finally printed on the DL boarding pass, and I hope this will get priority boarding more consistent across the continent. Last year I had to flash my card to get priority boarding, and I always worried that I would get bounced because technically AS is not a Skyteam member.

You'll just love what delta says about me today (just booked a ticket a few moments ago):

Maybe Delta knows something about me that Alaska Airlines isn't telling me yet?!

I am going to book a trip to JFK on DL tomorrow or Thurs! Perhaps, I should print my info right after I book, so I can act like a Platinum for a bit

I printed boarding passes from the kiosk at a DL legacy station, had my frequent flyer listed as "AS...123-Skyteam Elite Plus" and this was a meager MVP. Reprinted at a NW legacy station and it did not show any status, just the AS number. Reservation was booked at nwa.com.
