I like the triangles....and at least the planes aren't property of King County where taxpayers have to cough up 1% of cost of the plane to the arts commission for designing it. ;)

Fans of the $20k bulkhead carpets with triangles will be happy to know that the 738 delivered to AS on 1/6/09 does indeed have them

Why do the 737-400's (it might be this way on other 737's too, but I just usually end up in 1D/F) not have the "cool" pattern on the right side of the bulkhead in first?

A picture of the difference (on a 734):

a good photo of the bulkhead pattern (divider between Y and F):

The old Y seats, had the same pattern.

also notice the same colors on the floor.

I always thought maybe all the raised triangle shapes were to help absorb engine and wind noise

I don't mind the triangles...what bothers me is the part above and below the colored band of triangles where it looks like there used to be a nice, continuous pattern but over the years some of the triangles have fallen off! Makes the interior of the aircraft look old and shoddy...

Wait, are you kidding?

The triangles don't fall off, it is just made that way!

Haha, see!! I know they were made that way, but ANC just proved that I'm not the only one who thinks they look either half-completed or falling apart!!

AS, just complete the pattern and our complaints would stop! You don't need to redesign it (though what triangles have to do with Alaska or the Pacific Northwest is beyond me)...just make it look complete!!

I wouldn't mind if they just had the one band of triangles though, without the extra ones scattered. I once heard from someone that the patterns were $800 a square foot!

LOL actually yes it was a joke. I was just refering to the people who rub their muddy shoes all over the partitions. If something like the triangles really did just fall off I dont think I would be flying on AS aircraft

It'd be nice if the lighter gray color scheme on the first few rows of seats actually meant something. Kind of like the weird triangle designs on the bulkheads--it looks like AS was thinking about doing something but never got around to completing it. (FWIW, the 738 I flew ORD-ANC actually had the whole bulkhead fully covered in the triangle things, and it actually looked nice! I don't know why some of the planes look like the triangles have fallen off...)

Guess AS took your advice ;)

I almost mentioned something along the lines of "I think there's another thread somewhere where a discussion of the triangle things is better suited, so sorry about taking this thread OT." Thanks for doing the work for me and finding this thread... :p

Hey... I do the same thing sometimes :o

"triangle bulkhead" only brought up 3 AS threads thankfully...

If this were UA... I would be shocked if there were less then 200

I hope AS negotiated or found a new supplier for the new bulkheads... as $5000 a wall is a little NOE! [Perhaps its due to the materials in the fixed ones, as its lightweight and strong, not so much the weave pattern]

There is a piece of artwork in one of the native galleries by Pike Place Market with the same design.

I was thinking about this thread the other day when I deplaned at OAK. It appears whoever supplies their carpet near terminal 1 security uses the same designer. ;)
