Delay Flights - Protected
 

Given this latest round of bad weather and delayed flights - I wondering what other people do to minimize their delays?

Also, I had an agent tell me I was protected on a later flight, but that now appears to have changed. What really is a protected fight and can I lose my spot to someone else (like a new paying passenger?).

When you are protected on a later flight, it means an agent has booked you space on a later flight, without cancelling the space you are holding on the current flight.

Not having worked at the airport, I'm not sure what goes into the decisionmaking process with regards to removing that protected flight... but I can see where feasibly it may be taken away to give to someone who no longer has a "current flight" that still might fly.

Well, I made it to SEA and discovered that I didn't lose my seat. The flight I was protected on is now VERY late. So they must have moved me to a later, but still better flight. ^ ^

Also, I would like to apologize to all of those that had delayed fights today. I was just chastising someone for being critical of delayed flights ("its winter time and 25 minutes really isn't a delay"). I also stated most of my flights had been reasonably on time. Obviously, I angered the flight gods - so I apologize to all of those impacted today. I promise to do middle seat penance on my next flight. ;)
