vs flight with dl code...will it equal as miles?
possible but I doubt it.
If I have a Virgin flight with a Delta coded flight number, will AS give me miles for it? |

It definitely has to be DL metal to accrue, but AFAIK, anyone can market it.

A Little Fuzzy
Just inquired with Mileage Plan about accruing qualifying miles for MVP/Gold status on DL flights. Didn't get a clear answer...she just said they would accrue as qualifying miles "in some manner." Apparently they haven't decided whether the conversion is 1:1 as it is on AA, NW and LanChile.
Also, as far as any accrual, it has to be partner metal...not just marketed by partner. And, even if it is another partner's metal, the accrual is a function of the whose metal it is, not whose ticket you buy. So a NW ticket on NW metal gets full accrual, but prior to this relationship with DL, a NW ticket on DL metal did not earn qualifying miles. Is this contradictory to anyone's AS knowledge/experience? |
I feel AS jumped the gun on announcing the agreement with DL... since no one has any idea on how the program will even work. I wish AS would get the DL EQM's figured out.... I'd happily throw DL some business. I need to purchase some tickets to Europe over the next couple days, and I'd happily give DL a chance, however, I'll book AA and NW if there isn't a clear answer on EQM's.
If they take the same approach as DL does with its MQM's, GOODBYE DL, to bad I didn't even get to know ya. Within DL's plan, L, U, and T fares only earn 50% MQM's. If they pass that on to AS, I'll never have incentive to fly them. As it is, their "U" fares to Europe are more expensive than AA. In order the get an "H" or higher fare, the price nearly doubles!! Now why would anyone pay more for 50% EQM's, or double for 100% EQM's, when you can pay less on AA or NW? I need to purchase a flight to London for 11/5... I would love to take advantage of the DL promotions, but not for 50% EQM's. :( |

L, U , and T classes of service will receive 50% of the actual miles posted towards the Alliance Miles.
Example: 1000 miles posted to the account 500 miles accrued in Alliance Bucket (Miles towards AS status) All other classes of service will receive 100% of their actual miles posted toward the Alliance Miles. Example: 1000 miles posted to the account 1000 miles accrued in Alliance Bucket Class of Service bonus miles NEVER accrue towards Alliance Miles. |

Complicated, time consuming and not competitive with AA/NW...

So far the only complication was whether an AS partner would accrue status miles or not....I've never flown CO as a result. Now we get to spend more time squinting at the screen to figure out class of service amongst status miles partners and their other pros and cons of prices/schedules etc. :( I can't see how it can work too well for Delta to be uncompetitive with AA & NW to attract AS flyers. Maybe on some routes Delta is the only status mile partner, but on most routes there are bound to be AA or NW flights that are competitively priced that brainlessly provide a full ride. Oh well..... |
What are these alliance miles?? Did AS actually join the SkyTeam? I frankly could care less about DL's MQM's and such, I just want clarification on what we earn in our AS MP accounts.
Sounds like only 50% EQM's for L, U, and T fares. Well, except for some promotion miles, I doubt my DL business will increase. |

Alliance miles are the miles from partners that qualify towards mvp/g status on AS |
Thanks for the clarification.
Well, I just booked two flights to Europe.... and I really tried to use DL due to the promotion going on, but it didn't make sense after doing the math. So AA and NW continue to get my business over DL. The DL partnership doesn't offer much, but better than a kick-in-the-teeth. Guess I'll use 'em if I ever need to fly to SLC. |

Also, sometimes only one carrier matches a WN internet sale. I had to fly O/W SEA-MCI back in September on a week's notice. Did it for $117, with at least some miles earned and assigned seats, thanks to CO. |

Now, if DL wants to say that AS rock bottom fares don't qualify for Medallion status, that is a completely different issue, and one for Delta to decide. But for AS to say that DL L/U/T (LUser) fares only count half for MVP status (and then blame it on DL) is a ridiculous copout, IMO. |
