How do u get a decent fare to AK
this summer with a stopover?
Seems impossible? Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Looking for SFO-FAI then JNE back to SFO in august

What do you consider "decent?" You may find something slightly lower in a cruiseship-type open jaw, ie, SFO/ANC YVR/SFO. (By the way, it appears that you are looking for an open jaw, not a stopover, routing, which is a big difference.) This may be a prime routing to use miles on if you have any that are usable on your itin. Good luck. Maybe some consolidator has some better fares (ie, able to price them as discounted one-ways) but you are dealing with a very anticompetitive market during peak season.

If you find no good fairs, I would recomend finding someone with miles, and "trading" with them. As an award allows an openjaw..

AS currently has 2 fare sales going on on 10% off sale for tix bought on the web (other than internet only fares) and a summer sale for travel through september. The summer sale prices at about $443 SFO-FAI rt for representative days in august. The fare rules allow for a free stopover in ANC-JNU-SEA-PDX but the routing does not include JNU (you can check the fare rules easily on expedia). Using AS multicity function gets you a fare of $627 for SFO-FAI and FAI-JNU-SFO for representative days in August. Only a 7 day advance and really not a bad fare for Alaska multicity travel.

Consider buying an SFO/SJC/OAK to ANC r/t and route it via JNU. Most fare rules will allow for a stop over there. Then fly (or bus or drive or take the train) between ANC and FAI.

I know that will work and it should be reasonably cost effective. If you want to save some $$$, consider using some mileage for an AS 50% off reward or just use mileage all together.
