Bonus When Purchasing Base Points
As a long-time user of Alaska Air Points, I usually like to top-up my points when bonus points on offer, as I've found them to be quite useful/valuable when booking Qantas domestic flights and BA short distance flights.. However I haven't purchased any points since the Hawaiian Air merger last year.
This week OMAAT published an article that Alaska Air is currently offering 100% bonus when purchasing Atmos points , however when I logged in I was offered no bonus, I live in Australia but have been a long-time Alaska Air member and have regularly purchased points over the past 15 years. I have heard from other non North Americans the same recently and feel this may be due to a change in Alaska Air policy re members not based in North American. Just wondering whether others are experiencing the same issue not being offered bonus points during this 19Jan '26 to 18 Feb '26 promotion? And whether they have a solution. |
I can confirm that the bonus offer is currently active. I don't know how AS decides who sees it and who doesn't.

Fortunately I stocked up before the price hike where I paid between ¢1.3/RDP and ¢1.6/RDP with bonus after taxes. |
For some reason I only get an 80% bonus, I wonder what differentiates the bonus offered.

I am only worthy of a 90% bonus. My wife only gets 80%. If someone in your family pool is targeted for 100%, perhaps you could buy through them. (Pool requires Summit Visa or perhaps HA MC) |
I vaguely recall AS cancelling foreign accounts that were just used to accrue miles (via purchases or other means) and redeem them on other carriers without ever actually flying on AS. Perhaps the lack of bonus offer is related to this.

My offer is 100% which brings down the cost to
Although I am not a buyer, there are opportunities to get good value with the 100% bonus, especially with DE. A purchase of 85K Points with 85K bonus Points would be a little over $3K with fees & taxes. A DE reward in J YVR-FRA-BKK/HKT/CPT/JNB is 85K so a little under $1600 per ticket and each passenger also earns 10K+ status points. Even better, build in a FRA stopover for up to 14 days and make it an EU plus an Asian or South African vacation. James |
They keep spamming me about the “up to 100%” bonus that in reality for me is up to 90%. Why do they think it is a good marketing strategy to tell me that others are deemed worthy of a higher bonus (or lower price, effectively) than I?
