question about combining/sharing

1 - my husband and i almost always travel together

2 - we each get credited for our own mileage

3 - however, if we cancel a flight, ALL the money goes into MY my wallet

4 - he now has his companion fare to use, i will be the companion

5 - but we can't pay the balance on the companion ticket with my mw funds, even though half the money is technically his

any way to make this happen?

have you called?

i get all the money in my wallet, too, for three other pax (wife and two minor kids). i have been able to use those funds to buy tickets for them if I am logged into my own account. Then of course you can't access your husband's companion fare, but I'm assuming if you called you could. you might need to both be on the phone.

Why can't you just enter the companion fare code while logged into your account?

That was my first thought as well, it's just a code right? (at least it was last time I had one, which was quite some time ago)

Regards

That IME works. I have all wallet funds in my account, and my spouse has an AS visa.

Eujeanie Dec 29, 2023 10:32 am

thanks, i'll do that. i thought it was tied to the person with the visa/cc but apparently not.

now to decide where to go.

I do this all the time with spouses discount codes. Most of the funds end up in my Wallet.
I do all the booking and we do have identical miles in our accounts.
He has several discount codes that were given by CS for service related issues we experienced.
Since I can apply only 1 discount code per PNR, we usually fly on separate PNR’s.

(Side note..same issues submitted under my mileage # received..” thanks for letting us know. We hope you continue to fly with us”. No Discount codes. )

We also seamlessly use codes between spouse and my accounts without issue.

I think as long as the holder of the companion fare is one of the passengers (or all or part of the fare is paid with their CC) you're good to go.

that was not my question. if you read my op, i wanted to know if i could use the wallet funds in my, my wallet (not the companion fare holders) wallet. sort of crossing the streams.

i will try either calling AS or seeing if the cfc can be used from my account when i'm able.

I had no problem last week using a cfc from my son's account while using my wallet funds for flights for him and my grandson.

No idea why you're having difficulty copying your husband's companion fare code, signing into your account, pasting the code (ECVCxxx) in the "Discount or companion fare code" box, and purchasing the flight with your wallet funds. I did this again yesterday.

Agreed. I do this all the time. I always book from my account as I always have wallet funds but often use Mr. Fink's code. As long as he is one of the travelers, it is no problem.
