First class priority baggage handling?
 

I know this is moot for most domestic flights since they have the 20-minute guarantee, but does first class entitle you to having the orange priority tag since joining OneWorld? My experience has been typically the agents will include it, but I had one agent tell me first class does not get the priority tag which is only reserved for OneWorld elites. I asked CS and they said there is nowhere in the contract of carriage that says first class gets priority baggae handling. Maybe this is a throwback policy to pre-OW when Alaska didn't have priority baggage handling period.

That one agent and CS are correct. OWE only, not F.

Ridiculous, I think so, but policy, yes.

And regardless of that argument, they most often do nothing.

But orange is my favorite color, so there’s that.

This has been my experience. Only OWE. With that said, my bags have never once come out first on an AS flight (100k here). They are always middle to last. I swear AS does this just to piss me off a little more (after my transcontinental flight, with a 45+ wait for a gate, and super delayed bags). I guess the “priorty” tag makes me (and others?) feel special, lol?

I don’t care so much if my bags come off randomly in the middle. I do write to Alaska Listens if they come off last… because that means someone is doing something exactly backwards… and I’m actually being penalized because of the orange tags.

Kudos to BOS - I just flew SAN-BOS, and both of our bags were the very first two bags to arrive at the carousel.

What sort of response do you get?

We never received Priority bags tags when flying FIRST, even when BP said PRIORITY at top.
We have been MVP for many years.
When we became MVPG, we started to get the orange tags on bags.
And our luggage is usually some of the last bags to come off carousel.
Lately, our bags are coming out about 35-40 minutes from door opening.
And still waiting for bag guarantee discount from AS to post to account ( 7 weeks)

Thanks for the replies, and haha yes, even with the priority tag, my bag has never come out before at least some non-priority bags come out, and conversely my bag without priority tags have come out before other bags with them. This was more of an academic question than anything that matters in reality.

Been a few months since I checked a bag on AS but my experience is my bags are usually within the first 10 at BOS, but a bit worse at SFO - I think BOS has better baggage handlers potentially.

Annoyingly, QR has exactly the opposite policy for priority bag tags - business class only, OWE do not get anything.
