Basic partner earning questions
Hello everyone,
I was just invited to try AS' program as a 75K MVP and wondering if you AS experts can educate/clarify on something. I *think* I know the answer based on a read of their website, but real life FT knowledge is far more useful. Basically, KLM and Delta are both AS partners - however, does a KLM flight ticketed as DL qualify for AS miles? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks. |
You'll have to go and request missing mile credit, which in my experience has worked, but is not guaranteed.

Pay attention to fare class too - it seems that many cheaper fares on KLM fall into one of the discount fare classes that earn no miles on AS.

If it is DL marketed (ie DLxxx operated by KLM) it won't earn any MP miles, at least according to the Alaska website (must be marketed and operated by KLM). But please let me know if you find out otherwise, as I am trying to work my way around BA/AA TATL codeshares myself.
*** To qualify for mileage accrual, please note that your flights must fall within the eligible flight number range below and your flight must be marketed and operated by KLM. KLM Eligible Flight Numbers 400-1999 To ensure flight credit, the two letter airline code (KL) must precede the flight number (for example, KL XXXX) on your ticket receipt or boarding pass.

That's what the website says, however there are many past threads on this topic. Experience has shown that if you ask for missing mile credit after the fact you will generally get it.

Hmmm.. I wonder how that works for KLM/Delta though, where one earns 100% and the other earns 50% (usually). If you were able to claim missing mileage, would you get 100% or 50%?
OTOH BA/AA are both 100% earning partners for MileagePlan but lots of reports of no credit for TATL BA/AA codeshares.

Honestly, I love (and I mean LOVE) the AS Mileage Plan and I'm a happy camper, but the whole partner miles thing is one of my least favorite aspects of the program....talk about confusing....I've read post after post about people not getting their miles on DL or KLM or BA or AA or KE or whatever other partner they flew....the number of hoops you have to jump through is amazing...for instance, you have to be flying on a certain flight number, it can't be this fare class or that fare class (usually whatever one you're flying), it can't be marketed by one partner but flown by another....yikes!! This is one of the main reasons I keep all (or at least most) of my flying on AS metal and save my miles for mileage redemptions on partner airlines.

US Airways was purchased by American Airlines. Will miles earned on US Airways flights count as American partner miles for Alaska? I am looking a trip and the tickets a $80 cheaper coded US Air vs American on same metal.
Thanks, J |

Thanks, J Yes AA and US are merging but they still have separate operating certificates. Once they begin operating under a single certificate, I believe later this year, many of us are hoping those pmUS flights will become eligible for mileage accrual. |

I've looked and I can't find the answer to this.
If I fly BA in Premium Economy, and credit to Alaska, do I get the 125% mileage bonus in addition to the actual miles flown? Also, it says there is an additional 10% mileage bonus for Premium Economy, I assume this is not elite qualifying? Thanks and sorry for the newbie questions. |

I have flown DL/KLM code shares in the past and requested credit and got it without question even though the website says you should not.
