Southwest Award / Airtran Metal: Same Day Change $50?

Hi Guys,

I am sorry if this is answered elsewhere but I did search here and google and can't find concrete info.

I am flying Airtran this Saturday ATL-MSY direct. I booked using RR points long ago on a cheap "Wanna Get Away" fare.

I would like to change to an earlier flight.

Question: Would Airtran's $50 same day change policy apply since I am flying Airtran metal or would Southwests pay-thru-the-nose with more points apply since it was ticketed by Southwest?

I checked and there are no cheap fares available to change too.

Thanks in advance

As I understand it Southwest's policy should apply, since you bought the ticket from them.

Airtran also allows same day standby on most fares which Southwest definitely does not..

However many people at Southwest seem confused by the policies, don't know how or cannot make changes and in my opinion increasingly making up things.

I thought as much too.

I called AirTran and they said Southwest rules apply since it is Southwest stock. It was worth a shot.

I've found space on another airline I can book too. I may just do that.
